As a user of the iPod Touch, I am very glad that I was not left out in the cold. I will be buying the 2.0 for ten dollars. I feel good about that.

I’m excited about the new iphone. I didn’t think I’d want one until I saw the price. Yes, the service is more expensive, but there has to be a way to only use the edge and not have to pay for the 3g.

20GB is still peanuts in this day an age, I was hoping for MobileMe to go up 100gb minimum.

They say Apple it’s pushing video sharing in detriment of iDVD etc. Well, no much video sharing is possible on a paltry 20 gigs…

And this is why I still won’t be getting an iPhone. Even though the price has dropped to $199 for an 8gb iPhone, I’d still have to sign a contract with at&t. Sorry, I already have a deal with Verizon that I like very much :) You know what would REALLY be awesome? If I could take my old LG down to my local Verizon store and tell them that I want to buy a new iPhone and transfer all the info from my old phone to the new one and keep my contract with Verizon. Now THAT would be something to get excited about.

My big question is if anyone thinks that the GPS functionality will be coming to the iTouch. I start to drive this October and would love to have a device that plays my music, has internet access, and a gps all in one. While the new iPhone fits this, I am very happy with my current phone service provider, hence the desire for this feature on the iTouch.

iPhone 2.0 software is welcome on my original iPhone. MobileMe sounds great–so did .Mac (which kinda sucked).

A MobileMe (that works as advertised–we’ll see…) should be included with the iPhone’s data plan. Why pay $100/ year to sync data when were already paying for a data plan?

What amazed me was that iPhone 2 is put out in such a way that small to medium IT departments can customize and test up to deployment under a try-us-out license, leaving lots of room for negotiation when it comes time to buy and deploy.

It is unknown to me how this customized and secure deployment would work under Apple and open source but I feel this is the best yet of another camels nose under the IT tent.

Not mention the Outlook for the rest of us of me.com. Well done Apple.

Despite my reaction to your new iPhone at last summer’s Gnomedex, I’ve begun to see some of the value and I might be encouraged to buy this new iteration EXCEPT…

There is no At&T reception in many areas of Portland, Maine and none on the block where I live. The kid who lives downstairs has an iPhone and it is useless at home.

Even when I lived in New York City, it was well-known that calling someone with At&T service was an iffy proposition, although it may have improved in the two years since I left.

Whatever possessed Apple to make such an innovative product so restrictive? And I’m betting their revenue would be double or triple on the iPhone if it could be used with cell services that actually function.

I have an original iPhone and I dont think I’m upgrading. I got it in feburary and with 2.0 It will be amazing. Can’t wait till super monkey ball. In fact I’m using my iPhone now. 3g is great but not for the at&t price.

30-45 dollar 3g data plan?
sucks. Period.

i am paying 20 dollar data plan from AT&T (secretly tethering at time) for 3g.

This gets me 3g connection on my laptop when I need it, and when I want it… with my N95 doing its job for turn-by-turn GPS service with Garmin software, and perfect syncing with my mac, i don’t really think I want iPhone 3g.

200 dollar price drop might attract more “average joe” population, however it is questionable that they are willing to pay for 40 dollar basic calling plan(yes, basic. the lowest plan ATT offers) + 30-40 dollar data plan+tax+network access fee + 911 fee + government B.S. fee + Local w/e fee… = nearly 100 dollars and over 100 for 1500+ txt msg plans.

This is NOT fair pricing for using iPhone.
Sprint is offering “True” unlimited plan for under 100 dollar per month (including 3g access) Also,
A lot of people are using subsidy-based network for about 20-30 dollar a month, and actually 40-50 tops for tmo for that matter.

I’m very disappointed in the release date and data pricing increase.

I also would have like to see a front-facing camera for video conferencing.

Curious about video recording in general on the phone.

Dang it,I wish I could get the iphone.The problem is,I dont have AT&T.Hopefully you can hack the 3g and hopefully it will have video recording and maybe a better webbroswer.But my biggest hope is that the iphone will be out for other cariars in America but I highly doubt that will happen.

I can’t beleive it took Apple so long to release this. 3G was the fastest then and still is. I was suprised they were releasing the original iPhone on EDGE. Anyways, it’s finally here…iPhone in Canada. I do hope that Apple will put some thought into creating a CDMA version of iPhone so it can work on carriers such as verison (biggest in US) or Telus (biggest in Canada).

It was a great keynote, however I’m not moved to get the 3G. I’ll stick with my 8GB iPhone since it’s not obsolete. I’m not impressed with the plastic backing or the GPS. Sure, the speed is faster but I’m able to find a wi-fi spot and be okay. I think those with the original iPhone can wait for 3.0.
