This is Not Safari
Hey Applefolk! If there was anything you could ask the Macintosh Internet Explorer development team, what would it be? Are you looking for new features? Better support for X, Y, or Z? Let me know within the hour, because Gretchen and I will have their ear for the better part of this evening. It's nothing more than an informal dinner across town (no biggie). Comment now, or hold onto my piece. That came out wrong. Very wrong.

When will IE Mac have parity with IE Win? Why is IE Mac like a red headed stepchild?

Tell them if they want to compete they need ad blocking and tabbed browsing and to speed up the loading of pages. If they want any part of the mac community for internet browsing, they need to steal everything from chimera and safari and make it ever faster.

I second the motion for tabbed browsing.

What Niel and Sam said. It chunks like a mutha, and designing for IE Win is SO not like designing for IE Mac. It makes me want to rip my hair out. The CSS rendering is horrific.

What could M$ do to improve IE? Scrap the project and let Apple work on Safari I guess, but I will always use Chimera and Mozilla only
Sorry, but IE just doesn't compete.

John has the smartest comment so far…but I think we should give Microsoft a chance…let them blow their money just like they did for Series 9 and spend 500,000,000 dollars. (but series 9 did turn out to be nice so who knows)

Tell them to build in a feature log website traffic (incoming/outgoing).

IE on Mac needs to quickly improve its handling of the FILE type formfield. It can successfully upload the file to the webserver when a form is submitted, but the file cannot be moved or even referenced afterwards. Some testing indicated that it submits the file name (separately from the physical file) with a blank space appended to it.

Faster launching times. And Google search from the toolbar.

Fo' real tho'…they are going to have to bend over backwards to produce a browser on par with our other options. Speed, compatibility, standards (and tabbed browsing - that'd be good.) Do those things well and I'll take a look at it. Otherwise, M$, don't waste your money and my time.

Yes, that came out very wrong. And you owe me a new monitor, since I spit water all over mine.

I would ask: “Why no pop up blocker?”

I don't own or work on Macs anymore but over in places like the Ars Technica forums what I hear a lot of is a)improve the page rendering speed and b) tabbed browsing r0×0rs. I'd like it if IE/Mac has a splash screen that pointed out that it is not in fact a Win32 port. :)

I second any movement to add tabbed browsing. And Robyn, please recite the following: “I before E, except after C and in Neil”.
