This reminds me very much of a Robyn Hitchcock song called The Speed of Things. Lines that have always struck me as poignant:

I fed you in your chair this morning

This is so true. It is especially easy in the world of web 2.0, a world moving literally at the speed of information (some would say faster than light), to forget how quickly it all goes by. If you have a child you know the truth of this as they grow up so fast. Carpe Diem. Seize the day and cherish every moment!

I personally am a bit offended by this. I’m a teenager, and I am certainly perfectly happy to stay that way for as long as possible. I hate the idea of having to go off on my own, and work.

Good advice – sure. But one of those pieces that only the converted will bother to read (cuz we’re already there – how much did you pay attention to this advice when you were finishing 8th grade?).

We (who are older) have to find a way to engage those younger than us in a way they will pay attention to – and so it shall ever be. :-(
