There’s Nothing Wrong with Windows Vista

I’m so tired of people saying that the problems are with Vista, instead of blaming themselves! I mean seriously. It’s not Vista’s fault you buy crappy hardware. It’s not Vista’s fault your drivers don’t work. It’s all YOUR fault.

What’s with all the bad press? There is NOTHING wrong with Vista whatsoever! I’ve never had any issues or problems. It’s simply great! Stop blaming Microsoft and making them a scapegoat because you don’t know how to use a computer! Trust me, I know what I’m talking about. I’m a geek after all!

What? What is that they’re saying in chat? Look at the monitor of my Vista machine? Ok… what… the…

Heh. Good one, Chris!

Ha ha! Very funny! I like that!

ok, this was a joke right….

ok, open a folder window. Top right, a chunk of space is taken up with the words ‘favorite links’. Are those actually your favorite links? Are they the places you go most often? Can you change them and put your favorite links in there? No, they’re fixed. So when it says ‘favorite links,
a) It’s lying, and
b) Those words are taking up space on your screen where they could put another link.
Vista doesn’t suck? Vista sucks!

uh, I meant top left.

I most me the luckiest guy in the world.
I had vista pre-installed on my machine and I never had any real problems. (not one blue screen)
but when I tried installing it in a virtual machine it just gave me a million bsod’s
I now have a modified version of windows vista. It can be made with a tool called Vlite, wich create a Vista Lite iso out of a original vista dvd iso.
Vista lite only need 3 gb of hard drive space, comes without junk and need only 256 mb of ram. I run that version in a virtual machine now.

I case anybody cares
I deleted vista from my hard drive.
I installed linux and have vista in a virtual machine (VMware)

nice way to insult Vista without really saying something bad about it.. lol

Vista is horrible….

Chris I thought you formated Vista and are using XP again.. is this the case?

Dont blame linux for being “hard to use” blame yourself, its you who never learned it, you can actually do whatever you want in and with linux, so its all your fault you dont think its the greates OS on the market. And dont blame linux for bad hardware support, its you who bought crappy hardware !

Great logic ; )

There’s nothing wrong with GNU/Linux either. All the faults are because the end user don’t know how to use a computer. It’s not the programmers fault if something doesn’t work, the end user has the source code after all, so they can fix it, submit the patch etc. Thankfully this is quite rare.

I was waiting for the other shoe to drop while watching the timer count down in the flash player. Then WHAM! with seconds to go the BSOD. Vey funny.

Chris you said in that last video that there is nothing wrong with Vista, but the other day I saw you go on a half hour rant about keeping XP over Vista, whats with that?

Fancy screen saver you’ve got there…

They say a picture is worth a thousand words… multiply that by the frames on the video…=)

LOL no problems at all

heh… a remake of the windows 98 usb presentation! ;)

Oh Yes, don’t forget that it is all the crappy software and hardware that causing Vista to misread regular driver changes as a hardware change.

Yet another datapoint, like you need one.

I’ve never owned a mac. That will probably change soon.

Just bought a new Vista laptop -had to for work. Here are my thoughts.

Before even turning the thing on, I put 2 gig or ram in there (it shipped with 1). I read enough to know that 1 gig wasn’t going to cut it.

Turn it on, and went through update infinity. That’s OK – I expected this. What I didn’t expect was the error message I got when I clicked “ok – shutdown and reboot” for THE VERY FIRST SET of MS updates.

Wow. Someone needs to be fired. An error message? On a brand-new, clean-install, manufacturer-designed-for-Vista laptop? Unacceptable. Stop-the-presses bad. SOMEONE needs to be fired. Entire teams of people need to be fired. This is why I’m recommending everyone I know who can switch, to switch to Mac. This is indicative of the entire Windows experience. Glitches were OK in 1995, because the improvements were so overwhelming. It’s 12 years later.

This is in the first 30 minutes of using the computer. Out of the box. This isn’t Mark Cuban installing Office and expecting it to work (god forbid), but the OS OUT OF THE BOX. It’s the equivalent of the power button not working. It is broken.

Then McAfee says it wants to download updates. I click OK. What happens next I cannot believe.

The screen goes DIM, and a window pops up that says “Application McAfee is trying to access the INTERNET! Are you sure??”

Uh, yeah, I just clicked the button. It was 2 seconds ago.

After 5 or 6 of these screen-going-dim-and-OS-warning-me experiences (in the first 2 hours), I quickly realized that this was what Ballmer was talking about when he said that Vista was more secure.

Screensaver kicks in, I wake the machine, my network is gone. Reboot.

OK, XP drops my network from time to time. No big deal – someone was probably trying to send me a file or something and the OS panicked.

Here’s my favorite.

I bought a Windows Vista Home Premium laptop EXPLICITLY to use the media-center functionality. I have a Zune, and want to play with the new features which allow video synchronization. So, I plug in my USB TV Tuner from Pinnacle (Windows Vista certified) and the largest size window that I can play back content smoothly is less than 10% of the screen. The framerate of video playback is about 5 frames a second, when maximized. That’s SD, HD, whatever. My 2 year old XP laptop with GMA900 graphics (LOL) plays back full-HD full-screen content just fine. Granted, the Processor maxes out at 100%, but it works. Vista? Entirely unwatchable. Entirely unusable. So much for Vista Media Center. On this machine, the video playback functionality is broken, as shipped, out of the box. It should come with a warning sticker, that these features will not work on this machine.

What’s the point? Microsoft should have upped the specs on Vista Premium to disallow an underpowered machine like this one from ever reaching the market. There are features on this OS that I will never be able to use on this machine because a dual-core AMD chip and shared graphics with 256k of NVidia whatever isn’t enough. I’m 15 minutes from Microsoft. I can go over there and show them how crappy this thing is. I want to. Microsoft has done so much for the local economy that I WANT TO HELP THEM STOP SHIPPING GARBAGE. I like Microsoft. I really do. But THIS computer, THIS OS, THIS EXPERIENCE – SUCKS!

Wow.

As in, now.

Tom

this is undoutedly one of the funniest videos i have seen ;)
sorry for your loss though. btw have you seen the red bsod built-in vista yet?

- Shamim

Oh now that was funny…! You had me wondering if M$ paid you to say something good about Vista LOL.

LMAO. Chris this was all staged right? You somehow purposely blue screened it or set it up didn’t you? Or were you really trying to defend Windows Vista?

Either way hilarious… I’m going to guess it was staged since you’re switching to Mac, sung a song about Vista negatively, etc.

Funny video I enjoyed it… not going to lie I was pretty confused at first :^)

TheDub

Hahaha! That was good!
Seriously though, some people ague that the public hated XP as much as Vista when it first came out but now everybody loves it. True, but XP was unusable till SP1 came out and it wasn’t till SP2 that it became a decent OS (three years after release!)

I wonder how many years and service packs will take to fix the train wreck that Vista is….

You gotta be KIDDING me. With Vista, it’s one problem after another! You don’t think so? Okay then, answer me this – how come I can’t, even with FULL administrator privileges, kill Firefox in process tab of the task manager window, when it fails to launch properly? It says I “don’t have the privileges”! Well if I don’t have the privileges as administrator, who the stinkin heck does? The CIA or the FBI maybe? AARG!!! Peeves me to no end! And that’s just the beginning!

I’d go on a longer rant if I weren’t trying to get a nice Sunday break from the horror of it all. *grabs hair*

LOL!!! There I go again… responding to your written post w/o listening to the video! AARF! I’ve got to remember what are sarcastic son-of-a-gun YOU ARE!!! LOVE IT!!!

Okay, you got me hooked. I’m gonna watch all your blog casts now. Are you happy? LOL

Seriously tho, if ya got any hack that can enable me to take over the task manager, I’d be your fan forever. Crap, I’m in IT, and I can’t figure it out. How are the regular home users to cope? Dang irritatin!

^^^ That was NOT a naughty word, that your system edited out above. Blows me away that it got bleeped. Maybe you need to take a second look at your word filter?

i think you could possibly be right I have never used a vista machine but look forward to it my computer is about a year old and i don’t know if it can install vista let alone run it. i am still looking to mac because of the better feed back and to me from what i have read about it is easier to do things. hope you have a good time this thanks giving!
mikey

LOL, was that controlled or timed?

Good news and I trust Chris to tell me the
truth. Lots of people run crappy 3rd party software written badly.
I’m loading Vista on my new HTPC and will report back what I find.

I agree totaly!! I almost gave up on windows vista… but then i thought i would give it one more shot… so i put a new (mean) machine together..(Asus M2N32-SLI Premium Vista Edition and the AMD Athlon 64X2 6400) and Vists is wounderful on supported hardware!!

Had no problems with drivers, everything works fine The hardware argument is as invalid as if I tried to run Leopard on an older Mac. Leopard is great, Vista works fine and has problems on older systems, as would Leopard or any operation system. I cant run XP on my 486, piece of crap XP

Chris Pirillo is an IDIOT

that’s what happens when you don’t buy a vista compliant machine and peripherals… hah-hah.

I have never thought a geek like you could be that funny, period! BSOD at the last second, I laughed so hard that I almost strained my poor old back. If I need to see a chiropractor, I would send you my bill if that’s ok with you. Just don’t send a genuine Windows Vista Premium or Ultimate in lieu of the money.

LoL, for a second there I thought Chris has lost it. I BSOD at every shutdown! =)

Here’s the sad, sad truth about Vista: It *does* work fine if you:

a) Don’t buy a system with Vista pre-installed – companies like Dell (yes, we know they sponsor you, Chris), HP and others *still* pile-on crapware on their systems. If you do, then go in and UNINSTALL ALL of the software that your PC’s manufacturer installed that isn’t directly from Microsoft or is driver software, and then re-install your favorite apps.

b) Perform an absolutely CLEAN install on your existing hardware, as long as it’s hardware that was in the medium-to-high-end quality & performance. Installing crapware/shareware/freeware will do NOTHING but bork your Vista installation.

Vista glaringly shows-off how poorly crapware/shareware/freeware are written. XP was more forgiving, but COME ON PEOPLE – it’s 2007!

Chris – would you care to explain to me why I’m still using the CPU & Video Card that we received at the XP X64 Launch Party at WinHEC 2005 and still running VISTA ULTIMATE with only ONE BSOD since RTM?!? I must obviously be blessed, so maybe I should rent myself out to stand by people’s computers so they won’t crash when they run Vista?

Follow-up: My Windows Vista Experience is 4.9 on that hardware, Chris.

Well, something’s up here, because my last two comments were deleted….so, I’ll try again.

If you want your Windows Vista system to run right-as-rain, do the following:

a) If you had Vista installed on your newly-purchased system, uninstall all of the crapware/shareware/demoware from that system.

b) If you purchased Vista, do a CLEAN install of Vista and do not install any freeware/crapware/demoware/shareware. After that, re-install your favorite apps.

Chris, I’m running Vista Ultimate on the same hardware that you and I received at the XP X64 Launch at WinHEC 2005, and my system has a Vista Experience Rating of 4.9…and I’ve only had 1 BSOD since Vista RTM. I must be blessed, so I might just rent myself out to have me stand by people’s systems so Vista won’t crash.

Tom (ranting about Media Center), I’m running a very pedestrian Athlon 64 4000+, a DFI LanParty SLI-D motherboard, 1GB RAM, a GeForce 6800 GT and a Hauppage PVR500 Video Capture board and a budet 16:9 1440×900 LCD display and Media Center functions perfectly. Again, the problem with your “experience” lies squarely on HP and not Microsoft.

Chris – you know where to find me.

I could not agree any more. I have been running Vista for 7 or 8 months. No problems. I really thing it is a good OS. I don’t personnally understand the bad hype. It seems to be some kind of herd mentallity.

I suspect, somehow, that you are pulling our collective legs here!

I also note another poster remarking about a red BSOD — isn’t this a contradiction in terms?

If the SOD is Red, then it is a RSOD!

I totally agree Chris, that’s why I’m still using Windows NT4
Its the best of NT and DOS all rolled into one.

certanly, there is not perfect operating system; it doesnot exists…
but windows is to far away to be perfect, Osx as well, the thing is that every body talks about mac and windows as the only options we have as users; that is false, the alternative is GNU/Linux, I think is much better than windows and OSX, I have been using Ubuntu for a while and I can tell you that I will never go back to windows!!!! Ubuntu rules!!
But that is just my opinion!!!!

chris, stop buying crappy hardware and software ;)

I have a BIG question:

Why Microsoft accept (???) to downgrade Vista Business and Vista Ultimate to Winvows XP Pro?

My guess is that they do not want a planetary revolution against Vista…

Why Microsoft does NOT accept to downgrade Vista Home or Vista Premium to Winvows XP Home? (Yes, Yes, XP Home is a joke as os, but still does not compare with Vista Home…)

Let the Home users be stuck with this GREAT (really!) os. Great as source code, great as ocupied space, great as hardware resources, great as difficult to find software, great as activation which is started if you update few drivers (no need for hardware changes…), great as… you can have any thing there…

After all this is just POLITICS, not even business, we will see the final result in a year otr two…

I do not mention in detail, great with DRM…

It’s very convincing for a moment that you’re actually standing up for vista… until the end… haha

Vista and it’s DRM are exactly what the sheep who use it deserve. Try Linux, it’s free. Just have to use your brain a little.

Hahaha.. thats hilarious. Going on about how Vista is great and all.. and then a BSOD comes up.. though I’m suspecting its just the screensaver.. You are right though.. Vista is a good operating system WHEN people have the right hardware that Vista was designed for.

My only beef with Vista only comes from me not using the right hardware for it. Not having Aero Glass and all those spiffy effects cause my graphics card is way out dated. Other than that.. its great.

I’ve been running Vista for 8 months now, not a single BSOD (which is amazing), I truly think that Vista is a bit better than XP in terms of stability and use, although not the same can be said performance wise as it is a resource hog… Running vista on a value pc isnt feasible in my opinion…

The only issues I’ve had with Vista are network issues, yeah, they were few and far between but, I still had them. :D

ya you didnt have a problem cuse youre a geek fat ass

ViSTA HAS PROBLEMS!!!! its a FACT but SP1 removes most of them and thATS GOOD +)))

This video end credits should have “this video was sponsored by Bill Gates.” LOL

haha nice blue screen of death at the end!

And now u got it! u got a problem u nerdy nerdy little man!!! BLAIM YORSELF! It’s not Vista’s fault you buy crappy hardware, or this one It’s all YOUR fault.
ur words man!=) Peace!

OWNED!!!

HA HA HA HA

BSOD

lovely blue screen. What a nerd looks like a set from startrek

I havent had any problems either

VISTA IS JUNKY SOFTWARE FAG MAN!!

The dudes that has problem with vista has bad computers and Vista wasent perfect when it was released, nither was XP. So would you please Fuck off

Was that guy joking? Maybe this thing was designed for geeks, but it sure as heck wasn’t designed for… say… consumers. As a guy who’s just buying a computer I feel like I got stuck with a car whose oil I can’t change, whose tires won’t rotate and whose steering wheel locks up for no real reason. If a mechanic talked to me like this little turd, I’d deck him.

one single hiccup?? DUDE ur fucked up. Vista is the fucked up program not ours! People get new laptops getting Vista, and Vista doesnt work… WELL FUCKA! VISTA SUCKS! EVEN THOUGH YOU GET A NEW COMPUTER WITH VISTA IT DOESNT MEAN IT HAS CRAPPY PROGRAMS! ITS VISTA MOTHER FUCKER FUCKER FUCKRE!!!

Vista is the best. end of discussion. d

LOOOOOOOL!!!!! Everyone knows that Vista is not reliable, XP and Leopar truly are better.

PREACH… YEAH!!!!!!!

LOL that was great at the end of the video when the blue screen of death came after he finish speaking!!!

sorry mate but ubuntu pisses from a great height on vista. vista is a resource hungry monster fuelling international consumerism

i dont understand all this ranting about vista, its sure as a lot better at the start when XP started
and sure, go look up archives and find the tons of rants XP brought up. NOTHING is perfect first release, thats why people invented neat little packages called “updates” im running vista for ~1 yr, and i have found no serious problems whatsoever.
the only things i found, were DOS programs not running.
also, the bitching about resources. i calculated this
98 > XP 4x higher
XP > Vista 3.3x higher

we geeks have a saying when someone ask us ,whats your favorite pc,answere one that works!without droping the f-bomb.i have rolled back 9 laptops this week alone purchased at the big retail chain,VISTA is the new windows milenium with eye candy
the guy in this vid is ok by me,but he actualy had me for sec

ok ok ok im sprry about the last comment lokergnome. But after I saw the ending i lmao! That BSOD was acually a screen siver.

I agree with Ruttit’s comment =]

its b/c when ppl install vista, it does always install correctly. re-install windows vista, and it will work. microsoft says that sometimes the CD skips, and files go missing.

This man speaks the truth. Why doesn’t my webcam work under Vista? Because the cam was designed 12 years ago and isn’t compatible with WIA. Most software that isn’t Vista compatible is not because “Vista Sucks”, but because the software designer made it too reliant on a certain operating system, so even small changes in the OS (I.E., a new version) will cause it to fail. It’s not that it’s Vista, but because it’s newer and the software isn’t designed for change.

Vista sucks!!! I hate it! Mac is much better…

MAC’S SHITY AS HELLLLL not compatible with nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hahaha, how much did this dickhead get paid by Microsoft to put out this Video.

Vista drove me to Linux.

If you see his other videos, you will soon see that this is a joke video.

Rofl he got a BSOD

Ownt Vista doesn’t like you talking about it nor its hardware

vista isnt as good performance wise why do u think there going to use minwin… but yah i think vista has it’s cons and pros and they even out thats why i have both bc vista is new so of course it is going to have new features

also some hardware from major computers do have compatibility issues bc it crashes with no virus and that is not the consumers fault thats the company and microsofts fault one of the two dono which one.

haha amen brother,
i have Vista Ultimate and i love it,
only issue i have ever had is when you play
old games you need to set the res to 800×600
in order for it to work because of the OpenGL
in vista. but apart from that it is awesome i do all my programing on it and it works good both security wise and performance wise.

the main thing people dont relise is that vista is designed for NOW and FUTURE machines not pieces of crap in your parents study.

not compatible with YOU i suppose?
It works fine with anything i use(d), only blame some real STUPID automations microsoft has in their software. But we’ll switch that of after instalation.

It works perfectly ok with my computer and it is more secure in my opinion then xp but with my gf comp it crashes and its not her fault its either the manufactures or microsoft bc she doesnt have a virus and she has rebooted her comp before same thing happend again… but i do suggest testing it out for yourself

OMGZZR VISTA SUPPORTER…KILL HIM

He’s not entirely wrong. People said the same things about XP and I’ve never once in years of using XP with varied hardware had a BSOD that wasn’t caused by hardware failure.

Sure it’s bloatware, sure security is a joke but the problems people attribute to Windows tend to be about instability which is just false.

Vista sucks… I don’t sell i anymore! it’s XP again in my shop and Ubuntu

the only problem with vista is not having a good enogh cpu to run it. my laptop has vista and ive had no problems but its only slow because it has an amd procesor and 1 gig of ram but my dads cpu has a intel quad and 4 gigs of ram and it super fast.

I understand you i LOVE Vista if you have junky computer please run windows 95 NOT Vista

Well at least XP runs all the software, has all the drivers.

Vista just looks better. If I wanted that I would have bought a mac.

LOL. What a moron. This idiot is probably related to Billy Gates.

Vista was a right step to the many vocal few that didn’t like XP, go figure, and when Vista came out, it was the right time to flip the script, per say. Vista has faults, one of the faults can be counted as the huge number of users who don’t know much about computers and screw up 95, 98, ME (systems that could hose themselves but were hosed more by drivers and hardware makers and user’s who accept I Love You viruses from the IRS;), and some of those users, would hose Macs and Linux as well. A lot of I just use this box, I don’t have to learn anything about good practices, as they don’t wash their hands coming from the bathroom to make your lunches or hospital stay better. Yes, Vista had levels of fail, where they more or less than XP . . and let’s discount sales of.

You’re an idiot. Way to be sucked into idiocy by the Apple “gods”. Go spend your money on a sub par machine. I’ll keep Vista. Wow, these people are stupid.

What Do You Think?
