Strangely enough, I actually became aware of you by reading the “Credit Chris!” comments on that documentary’s YouTube page. Those comments made me wonder who the hell you were, so I searched your name. Ever since then (24 hours ago), I’ve been hooked on your videos!

Agreed, crediting is so important. Has anyone e-mailed VPRO to see why they decided to credit the way they did? Crediting at the end of films is better than no credit at all. But I am sorry they were only able to excerpt your video and in the English version could not credit in the image.

One thing is that the original was broadcast with Dutch credits (in the image) and so the Youtube video may not be identical to the director’s original.

I think the film brings up a lot of interesting thoughts and it would be great to talk about those, too. Reasoning about what truth is/can be in the Age of Wikipedia. Good brain exercise, that.

I think it is even worse for them becouse VPRO is an public tv station, this article was also on tv without any credit.

i usually dont trust or try to stay away from wiki, like you said to the extent of facts. however, for the sake of time i do use it for quick info on a subject. although the info is just as good there as it is here, which could be way off, credits should be given, so we know if it comes from a loyal source. then again, thats the motive of this knew age info ditribution website.

Don’t you get in trouble with your sponsors if people do that? They are covering your sponsors logos! That, and they are covering up chat. Sometimes I watch you videos just to read the chat, I have seen a lot of funny stuff in there.

i think also that Chris should get Credit for it, why the darn did they put in Chris if they weren’t planing to be fair, they might as well have removed chris video, that is almost like to invite your friends to help you move or remake a room only to shout at them : All done, now beat it.
where are their manners, didn’t they have mothers who learned they what is right and what is wrong. they got nerves

i feel that you should have gotten credit for your video.thats completely ridiculous that you did not! so they use your video and everything and have the nerve to not give you credit. i would be pissed. on the other hand being on there is almost credit in itself. just the thought that someone would have put you on there is a great compliment.

It is true that people today are using things without giving the original person credit for their ideas. it’s sad that this is what america is coming to

i have watched the video and i agree that you should have been mentioned..thats the least they could have done. This is ridiculous! ugghhh

Yes, they have added Chris’ name in the video description, but this seems like an afterthought. People aren’t going to read the long list to see who made the opening video. They should have referenced him by flashing his name briefly just like they did for the other people. Chris is being denied lots of new viewers because of this.

even if they just added a small line on the more info saying “opening video by Chris Pirillo” they would AT LEAST posted a link to his live stream or blog. i bet is just like Andrew commented earlier, they putted that in the last minute.

Hi Chris,

Sorry to hear (and see).

The company who put this together seems to identify themselves as “VPROinternational”. I suspect that they thought they could gain some sort of advantage by stealing your work instead of using it properly.

Instead, all that VPROinternational has received out of this devious little endeavor is bad publicity. (First you blogged about them…. then I named their company in this comment so that the world would know just who they are!)

Life is like that, isn’t it? Whenever people cut corners they always seem to think that they are getting ahead…. but it always comes back to bite them.

By the way, is that video property of Chris Pirillo or is it property of Ustream?

I agree with you Chris. It was you that produced the content, and even if they just put a label in the video that said something like Chris Pirillo, or Live.Pirillo.com that probably would have been enough. One more thing when I get upset I don’t scratch myself like Wicket does.
