The Secret: Laws of Attraction

Traci asks another question of the day: “Are you happy with your dominant thoughts?

The Law of Attraction. Yes, it’s something I didn’t realize I had been doing my entire life. Living out “The Secret.”

It’s like riding a motorcycle: “Where you look is where you’ll go.” Although I don’t ride motor bikes, the statement stands.

At one point as a teenager, I remember watching a news report on something that Microsoft was doing (likely, releasing a new version of Windows). I remember thinking to myself: “Wow, it’d be really neat to be in Seattle.” That moment, the universe shifted and some years later, I’m living smack dab in the middle of the Pacific Northwest.

I also remember thinking (and telling people) that I couldn’t stand to wear ties. The last thing I ever wanted to do was take a job that would require me to get dressed up every day. Lo and behold, I’m typing this out while sitting in a ball cap, t-shirt, and pajama bottoms in my home office on Monday morning.

You make your own luck, good or bad.

I’ve been in control of my own destiny throughout my adult life, and when I felt that direction slipping away from my own grasp (namely, when I lived in Los Angeles for a couple of years), I snapped back to an internal locus of control and drove my career forward. My quality of life has been pretty good because I find myself thinking of the things I want to do.

Despite experiencing a fair amount of setbacks in recent years, I don’t feel I’m any worse for it. My dominant thoughts must thusly be positive (although, I am prone to sharing what’s on my mind – even if it sounds like I’m complaining).

Optimize 3.0 is an excellent tool to have in your arsenal. Use it to clean up your computer, free up space by removing junk files, and to generally speed up your computer. You spend a lot of time using your machine... don't you want it to run at its optimum speed and efficiency?

You are so right. It has lots to do with fear of failure. I myself enjoy my job as a graphic designer. I am very grateful for everything I have and life is good. I put this down to building positive relaytionships and trying to help people.

I would like lots more but I’m just too scared. I want to wake up on a monday morning and go to work for myself and not have to answer to someone who I neither like or respect.

I think from now on I need to start getting out of my comfort zone. I have a problem of not finnishing things otherwise i would just leave my job and start up on my own but with the current conditions should i be more cautious.

When I was a young shaver I never realized why I kept having the same clutch and radiator problems on the old trucks that I owned. My monthly budget for these problems, as well as a host of others, was equal to or greater than the monthly payment on a new truck. However, I didn’t believe that I could afford a new care and moreover, I didn’t really think I deserved one.

To boot, every time I entered my truck I shuttered at the prospect of it overheating again and I quickly prepared a mental list of friends I could call that didn’t help me within the last two weeks. This is one way of testing a friendship that I cannot recommend.

What you resist – persist. Many people have experienced similar problems; different job – same boss, higher salary-same amount of money left at the end of the month, new boyfriend/girlfriend- same set of fights and drama. Second verse same as the first.

The laws of attraction, or jaws of gravity depending on perspective, are actually results stemmed from our beliefs, behavior and patterns.

In the great movie ‘Bull Durham’ Crash (Kevin Costner) is accused by Annie Savoy (Susan Sarandon) of sabotaging her relationship/sex life with Nuke (Tim Robbins) by telling him if he sleeps with Annie then his winning streak will end. Crash responds: “If you believe you’re playing well because you’re getting laid, or because you’re not getting laid, or because you wear women’s underwear, then you ARE! And you should know that!” The operative phrase is “if you believe…”

The laws of attraction are neutral and amoral – like the universe. They don’t care if we are happy with are thoughts or not. They only deliver what we order. And if you ever find yourself saying “hey, send this back, I didn’t order this” first make sure what you received isn’t on your menu in the first place. If it is then rethink your beliefs and take action.

You are so right on our dominant thoughts must be positive. I talk to my friends about this all the time. In fact, I blog about it. If we keep in our minds what we expect to happen in our lives, it will happen. There have been too many times in my life where I have seen it happen.

Back in the seventies, I read a book titled “Physocybernetics.” It is imaging how you want the outcome of anything to be. For example, practice in your mind playing a game of golf. While you are imagining playing that game, you must imagine that you are truly on the course. The sweat on your face, the insects buzzing around, feeling the iron in your hand and so on. I took 18 holes off of my golf game in 30 days by playing my home course in my head at night.

Being negative never gets anyone anything other than maybe a headache.

The Law of Attraction didn’t connect with me until the movie accidentally got shipped to my house. Normally, I’m a very honest person but for some reason (duh, The Secret) I was curious about the DVD. I googled and didn’t find much. Next thing I know I was watching my neighbor’s DVD and a whole new world opened up in the spring of 2006.

My life changed. I too realized that working in a capacity that sucked was not a long term lifestyle I wanted so I quit my job.

I found out I had $500+ dollars in unclaimed money with the state of Minnesota. Sounds sill but I still have the email my friend sent me.

The most recent is I won a brand new iPhone 3G S at Blogging While Brown http://bloggingwhilebrown.com. The Universe knew I wanted this phone so much that I won the drawing June 19th, 2009 in Chicago!

Folks joke but the power of thought is a serious force…

Thats a great question to ask. Most people do not even think about what they are thinking about. Most people spend most of their lives in auto pilot and wonder why nothing changes in their life. It’s a great practice to take some time out and really think about what you want to attract into your life then ensure that those thoughts become your dominant thoughts.

Wow this is what I need. I was getting a bit frustrated tonight because of things happening in life and somehow on the geek’s page I saw your link and hey, that’s what I need to hear at this moment. Thanks Chris!

I think its really important that your dominant thoughts are positive, life usually reflects that result. I do believe the challenge is that usually there is an area of life that is not working well and its important to understand what the conditioning or beliefs are that are blocking this area. a good strategy is to speak ones thoughts aloud, its often interesting to find out what you are really thinking, and its amazing how much this stops you from thinking negatively.
