The PC De-Crapifier

Long overdue: an OEM’s worst nightmare. Jeff Jarvis oughta love it, but I doubt Dell will. Nothing illegal here:

The PC De-Crapifier is designed to remove a specific list unwanted software in an unattended fashion. Before running, the user may select exactly what software should be removed. Currently, it is targeted for use on most Dell machines; however it will theoretically run on anything that has the software listed below…

Hey Dell – if you really *ARE* listening, and you really *DO* believe in your own marketing hype, why don’t you put some truth behind the new “Designed For You” campaign? Ya know, offer a HUGE CHECKBOX next to the “Install software that doesn’t ship natively with Microsoft Windows” option and have it unchecked by default. First, you have to make that option available. Second, you could call it… “Really, Truly Designed For You.” Welcome to the blogosphere!

Rediscover your computer's true potential and performance by running a regular scan with Optimize 3.0! This little piece of software will now do more than ever before to boost your speed, increase your stability and enhance your security.

really neat. My mom just purchased an Acer, it’s not that bad of a system really; and what’s neat is they kept the un-necessary installs to a minimum. It only came bundled with Adobe Acrobat (PDFs of course), Norton Antivirus, and NTI BackItUp or something. I just uninstalled all of it :P

But yea, I have a tech support call from a Dell user, and wow, they loaded his system so full, reminded me of my old HP Pavillion :P lol.

PC De-Crapifier doesn’t work properly on my Dell M2010 laptop. It only gives me the option to “Reset IE Home and Search Pages”. It doesn’t give me any remove options for all those Dell Support tools, which are still on my laptop.
