As a neighbor of Canyon Ranch, I want to tell you that you've made a good choice. Even with Tucson's hot days, the evenings cool off and you can enjoy the outdoors in the early mornings and after the sun is down. Have a great time and take a good look around at the desert.

Hey Chris,
Canyon Ranch also has a resort out in The Berkshires (Western Massachusetts). It's right near Tanglewood (summer home of the Boston Symphony). Consider this an open invite to Mass...

Of course, Chris and Ponzi do live there, so it would probably seem like not much of a honeymoon getaway.

Canyon Ranch sounds cool, but for future events, you might want to try a Geek Cruise: if Ponzi doesn't want to geek out, she can just cruise, you get the luxury of the liner, destinations, hot (Caribbean) or cool (Alaska) as you choose, plus Internet.

Unless you're not fond of being stuck on a boat where they nickel and dime you for a lot of stuff, of course.

"She’d want to go where it’s hot, and I’d rather stay where it’s cool. I’d want to go where there’s an Internet connection, and she could stay disconnected for months on end."

I would recommend the Puget Sound region in the summer for that (hot in the middle, cool in the mountains; wired in the cities, spotty in the outlying regions), but....

"What I hate most about vacations is the feeling like I could be doing something much more constructive with my time"
HELL YEAH! I have the same feeling for last couple of weeks too. It's very uncomforting ;) (I even wrote it on my blog lately, but actually I dont write in English there anymore, nobody was reading). Every summer holiday I'm feeling like there's so much things to do that I've been postponing for the whole year and I'm not doing them now. Why? Maybe because there's too much of it, or maybe I just simply waste my time and can't do anything other?...

Chris, relax and enjoy the vacation. You're not doing nothing -- you're recharging.
