“Oh. Great. Another picture frame.” Or so we thought. You'd hope we'd have learned our lesson on Christmas morning - when we didn't fully unwrap the present given to us by Gretchen's parents. Yes, it was a picture frame - with a nice, personalized watercolor snowman painting inside. Adorable! Tonight, we finally opened the box that my parents sent. Inside, we found pouches of peanuts, candies, and a bubble-wrapped picture frame which contained an unexpected (and wonderful) gift. Unfortunately, few of you will understand its sentimental significance.

Everybody who's lived in Iowa for longer than twenty years knows about a puppy puppet named Floppy. He was controlled by Duane Ellett. Together, they entertained children every weekday afternoon on WHO TV 13. Kids would gather around on a carpet in front of the pair, watch cartoons, and tell jokes. There wasn't a boy or girl in the state who didn't want to meet Floppy. Sadly, Duane passed away back in 1987. I would have liked to thank him for my television debut on his program many years ago.

I'm sure my mom thought she'd be cute by sending me a picture of my brothers and I sitting with Floppy and his creator. Wow. I've always looked like a dork, ya know. And this snapshot proves it. I'm the one with the dog in my hair. Thanks, Mom!
