Texas Security

I saw your story about identity theft, and wanted to tell you about something that the
state of Texas does/did that caused a friend of mine a real headache a couple of years
ago. My friend moved here from another state and was still using his other state's for
the first month or so. He was writing checks at the local stores without any problems,
but as soon as he changed his drivers license, and started using his new Texas Id
Driver's License number, his checks were being rejected. After fussing with this problem
for a few months, he finally found out that Texas recycles old Drivers License numbers,
and the guy who had previously had his DL number, had written bad checks at the stores
where he was having problems. My friend had finally found out that the Check
Verification services had his new DL number associated with this guy who had written the
bad checks and any place that was running the DL # as part of the verification was when
his checks were flagged. I don't know if Texas has since changed this practice or not,
but it was a big wake-up call for my friend.

My God. Another thing to add to my list of reasons why I hate this state.

Texas is truely an ass-backwards state…..not as bad as oklahoma or arkansas per say(where marrying your second cousin is legal). But its got alot of problems….I can say this for the fact that I live here(Dallas)…I mean, this is the place where JFK got offed in November, 1962 and its become a cottage industry for the city of dallas. Have they no shame…not really if you pay a visit to dealy plaza and see all the people hawking their popcorn, peanuts and conspiracy wares…..anywho,ive vented enough…
