Ten Reasons to Have a Live Video Stream

With a great amount of encouragement (not only from her own community, but from me as well), I think Ponzi is finally going to give YouTube a go. She’s set up her own channel and has uploaded her first video - taken on her own Flip camcorder a few weeks ago. The clip is hilarious. Scroll down for the embed, or start by reading my top ten list of live webcam uses:

  1. Point it over your shoulder for a “rear view” mirror
  2. Use it to keep an eye on your child / husband
  3. Security (either when you’re at home or away)
  4. Point it at your mailbox to know when the day’s delivery is done
  5. Capture personal bloopers and disgusting habits
  6. Keep an eye on the stove, but not necessarily to watch pots
  7. Watch television / listen to radio from another room
  8. Remote aquarium enjoyment
  9. Front door monitor to avoid magazine salespeople
  10. Watch for interesting-looking clouds

I thought this was hilarious and very cute! I probably would do the same thing if I had a husband in a box. Well done, Ponzi!

Very entertaining!

Lol!, now Ponzi has total control over you Chris, you better behave now :P

or spy on the neighbors to see if they’ve gotten their paper yet

Ha! I have my husband-in-a-box via video chat while he is at work and I’m home with the kids. Now my 2 year old will sometimes point to the monitor and say “DA DA. SEE.” Now, if I could only get my husband to run the 24/7 camera!

You can also use it as a doggy day watch. If you have pets at your home that stay indoors why not watch them on a live feed? It’s very practical.

I think for the large “general” demographic, a live video stream would be most usefull as a security camera.

i want wife in a box :)

Can you say “control freak?” LOL!

I think its great to have a livestream but I think its going to feel like you are belong monitered and feel like you can’t do anything because people are watching you. Thats just how I feel about it. But I also think that after time I think you can get used to it when time goes on, just like chris pirillo

I do reason #9 but I mainly do it so I can catch those pesky ding dong ditchers! :))

LOLZ good work Ponzi LOL very funny.

Reason. 21: make shure some one is not talking bad about you lolz

i tink that ponzi is doing good except taht this video is a but funny and true. but chris you got her into this. sp support ponzi and also ther is something that i should also point out
DON”T USE SCREEN CAPTURE IT IS ANNPYING ANBD UN READABLE.

i wuld also say that unless you ahve good software then d not do screen sapture. what ponzi did was ok because the camers was unusually high quality

XD Ponzi is so adoreable.

I would have never considered using my webcam to view the fishees or TV in another room! Now the question arizes, how? I can’t really rig another computer in the other room, is there a remote webcam?

Hey Chris,
Thanks for the tips I will make sure I take them into count. I myslef am trying to start up a live video feed like you have. I allready have a accont on ustream.tv and I have just bought a website all I have to do now is get it finalized and get a webcam. I know is sounds dumb not already having one but I am just trying to find the right one. Thanks for the help.

I would like to have a TV in a box as you said. I also have a stream talking about tech and other things. I would like to shrink my TV and make it look all cute… LOL.

I’m probably gonna do a live stream one of these months/years, don’t have good equipment… but i will soon! thanks for the funny and good ideas

Man My wife would love “Husband in a box” .. ;)

I’m sure she’ll find a way to do it however.. :) She’s resourcefull
