Teleport

We’ve done videos about Win2VNC. We did one about Synergy. I made reference to a program called Teleport. Instead of explaining it… I’m going to show it to you. It’s freeware for the Mac, so definitely worth a try for you!

Simply reach an edge of your screen, and your mouse teleports to your nearby Mac, which also becomes controlled by your keyboard. The pasteboard can be synchronized, and you can even drag & drop files between your Macs. It works on Tiger and Leopard, and is available in English, French, Italian and Spanish.

I tried Teleport a while back. It’s pretty good.

Very cool app. If I ever get another Mac I’m sure I’ll be using this all the time.

lol i love your face when you first do it

I was just wondering about a program like this for my imac and MacBook pro. Thanks Chris!

Nice. I wish windows had this type of program. Freeware and all.

wow you discovered what linux has done for 15 years

Wow, doesn’t need much set up

Me Dooz Likez Diz Videoz!

Looks great, much more intuitive and feature-filled compared with Win2VNC or Synergy. Windows users can still get file copy/past support using Stardock’s Multiplicity.

Haha, you made yourself look like a fool. No one cares about being first you noob.

Wow, you’re noob for thinking that Chris just discovered vnc.

Chris doesn’t necessarily show new things. He explains and demonstrates things in an interesting and fun way. Even if it’s a couple of years old it might still be cool to show because I think there’s quite a few people not actually having seen this…

Too bad I only have 1 Mac :(

LOL, awesome reaction, heh :D lol :D huh ;-) :-O

LMAO!

Whats the point of this app if you can’t see the other computers desktop/screen through the computer your using to control?

synergy works fine if u use IP’s not network names

Yea synergy works fine for me

Well I certinally haven’t seen this, and it looks like a great little program…nice 1 Chris.

@nad: There really isn’t any point in using the app if you can’t see the other computer’s screen. For that you’d be better off using VNC/Remote Desktop/X11 forwarding, etc.

wow!! what an amazing app. its like something out of movies. I cant wait to try it out. I think this is one of coolest apps, and it looks so easy to use.

Nat- its the foot in the door, i think eventually it will come to that. but you have to agree this is an amazing app. and its FREE!!

WOW. i am very very impressed by this application. All my computers are set up on my LAN to the internet. And i constantly file share between them. If its playing pranks on my sister or sharing freeware with her. To even fixing her computer problems without leaving my basement lol. As soon as i started this video i already had the program downloading and installing. This makes file sharing and screen sharing so much easier. This programmed made me feel like the other computers on the network was just a second monitor connected to the computer im using.
Not to mention the fact that it improved the ability to play pranks on my sister by moving her windows before she could click on them :).
Though i have to see her computer to know where my mouse is going. its well worth it.
I gave her the excuse that its better for when you have problems that want to be fixed by me.
I am Amazed by this application,
And its very very easy to use

This looks like a great app but i only have a mackbook. I wonder if there will ever be an app like this for windows or do this between different os’

Not sure,if this a good thing or a bad thing?
I agree,pointless software,Just go dual monitors.No,reason to buy this.
Unless,you like this kinda “stuff”
.

hi hi i ihih ikhihihi

Hadn’t heard of that one, sweet!

chris its afro, teleport looks grreat and all but sadly im still on windows. I have found that multiplicity is very simlar except it si not free so if your are on windows you should check it out ~afro

You guys are missing the point. This is NOT supposed to be a substitution for screen sharing software. This (wonderful) software solves a very important and annoying problem.

I have multiple computers on my desk – my desktop machine(2 displays), a ‘monitoring’ machine for babysitting our website(1 display), etc and my MacBook Pro. The monitor machine has a display connected, so I can keep an eye on things, but without Teleport I would have to keep an extra mouse & keyboard to control it, OR screen share to it so I can see its screen on my other screens while I control it.

With Teleport I just mouse over to the far right of my display and ‘poof’ I’m on the other computer. Teleport takes the multi-display, extended desktop idea and extends it to other computers.

[...] and Leopard But rather than me try to explain it… watch the video, in which Chris does so here. If you’ve never seen/used it before, I’m confident you’ll be impressed __________________ [...]
