TechTV Layoffs
I keep getting e-mails from concerned viewers / subscribers regarding the news. I don't know if I'm breaking any rules by posting this to my personal site, but I wanted to let everyone know that I still have a job at TechTV. The world would have been able to figure that out for itself after we did today's show. I do appreciate the concern, though. Call for Help is still going strong, though that does not necessarily put me in a partying mood. It's always sad to see people lose a job they love – especially when there are few jobs to be found out there.

Does anyone know whether the 'on-camera' or 'off-camera' positions are of concern relating to the layoffs?

Whew!! Had me thinking my dream was going to come true that I had yesterday :) Still so sad to hear of other people affected by it. My uncle was laid off a year ago 3 years from retirement and it has been heartbreaking to watch him struggle to find a job now at his age :(
There just aren't any guarentees these days :(

I am really glad to see that you are still with us in the world of the viewing public! It is sad to see friends go. I have been through 5 layoffs in the last year and a half. I somehow managed to get past them all. My regards to the TechTV staff!

I think I speak for everyone when I say, “We're glad you're still hosting the show Chris.”

Imagine if the worst would of happened, gnomefest would happen a few months early as we all would rally for senor Pirillo's job.

Happy to hear everything's cool, Chris. I heard they laid off Fatty Matty. I've been checking everybody's blog to see any news. It IS tough nowadays. It took me 2 1/2 months to find a job – and I'm in the medical field! That's unheard of. I know tech has taken a beating…

I lost my job last year – so it gave me the excuse I needed to finally start my own company.
It's difficult but worth it!
Keep on going Chris……

Glad you're still going to be around! TechTV would be doing an injustice getting rid of you!

Chris: Glad to hear that your back w whats left of TTV. I am still trying to figure out that whole thing…take over a fine idea and then destroy it. What a concept. I tried to watch the new entity for a while, but it was just too painful. Being a cherry in ‘03; I bought a PC because you guys made it seem like fun…before that I always figured “what do I need a computer for?” Just as I was really getting into it; you guys up and disappeard. I used to dvd both shows every day and then edit them later…it was like taking a course- WITH FRIENDS! You may, and I hope you do get a new Tech TV up… but I don’t think you can ever dupe the chemistry of the old shows. There will be money investors and sponsors to worry about and so on-but move forward we shall…maybe we cannot go home again, but we can damn sure make an effort ro do the best we can. Good lock and God speed. Bill Stehl
