How to Write a Blog Post

For everyone out there who has a successful blog, there are twenty others who struggle trying to figure out what to write. Coming up with several interesting topics per day isn’t an easy feat. Even if you are regurgitating news, you still have to put a fresh perspective on things. You need to inject your own personal style, give your opinion and spin it into something completely different. Doing this can be extremely – well – tiring. There. I admitted it. It’s tiring, frustrating and difficult to blog day in and day out. Do you have any idea how many hours per month I sit here staring at the screen while praying something worth saying pops into my head?

Even when your head is full of great ideas, it can still be difficult to come up with things that will coalesce into a piece you can throw onto your blog. We stress and worry over every detail, and rightly so. There are millions of blogs out there. How the hell will we make ours stand out? We freak out over proper titles, good keywords, advertising links, embedded photos – the list doesn’t end.

I learned today, though, that if I clear my head and actually STOP worrying so much about all of those things that I can actually write. Of course I have to still be conscious of SEO and other important things. But why can’t I let those go until my draft is written? Why can’t I go back and clean up the post once I put my thoughts into words? By taking the stress off of myself and remembering to let my creative juices flow, I found I was better able to come up with something that I feel others will want to read.

Yahoo and Twitter are Going to Share!

It’s always nice when people share, right? Therefore, it stands to reason that it’s also nice when websites share. Yahoo and Twitter have entered into a deal that will allow content-sharing across both sites. This move is excellent for the floundering Yahoo. Yahoo and Facebook entered into a similar deal a few months ago, making it easier for users to share Facebook status updates and other information on Yahoo or share Yahoo sports scores or Flickr photos on Facebook.

The partnerships with Twitter and Facebook will take effect later this year. The partnership with Twitter will allow users to take material from both sites without having to leave either one. Specifically, users will be able to access their Twitter feed on Yahoo’s sites, update their Twitter status and share content from Yahoo in their Twitter feed, while Yahoo search and media properties will include Twitter updates.

What are your thoughts on these partnerships? Will this change the way you “do” social media? Or, will it have zero effect on your daily life?

I Didn't Write Anything Yesterday!

OMG. I totally spaced on writing something here yesterday. I’m so incredibly sorry, and intend on making it up to everyone right now. See, I’m writing something here – this is the sentence in the paragraph I’m writing because I forgot to write something before the clock struck Midnight. Where did the time go? Oh, you name it – running errands, getting ready for our trip to SF for BloggerCon, troubleshooting WordPress, troubleshooting Lockergnome, troubleshooting Gada.be, conversing with friends, chatting with Shayne, kissing Ponzi (at least once, I remember), etc. I really wanted to write something more substantial, but I guess you’ll have to settle for a fluff piece instead. Look at all the fluff! This is all fluff, I tell ya! Fluffy, fluffy, fluffy. Must go to bed now.
