href="http://live.pirillo.com/">http://live.pirillo.com/</a> &#8211; Divine, a new member in the chat room, wanted to know how to kick people off his wireless network.</p><p>In this case, the best offense is a good defense: you should set up a MAC address filter.</p><p>MAC stands for Media Access Control, and it&#8217;s a 12 digital hexadecimal number &#8211; and every network enabled device has a MAC address. What you need to do is set up a filter list in your wireless router configuration software (which is usually accessed via your web browser).</p><p>When you set up your filter list you are setting up a whitelist of addresses which will be allowed to access your network. If any device with a MAC address not on the filter list will not be allowed to use your wireless connection.</p><p>Washington University in St. Louis has a great write-up on <a
href="http://www.artsci.wustl.edu/ASCC/documentation/macaddrss.html">how you can find your MAC address</a>.</p><p>This is only one step you can take. We highly recommend securing your network with WPA security and a difficult to guess password.</p><p>Want to embed our <a
