I recently attended the WTIA Fast Pitch Forum & Technology Showcase. The conference featured two dozen of the of the hottest technology companies in Washington presenting their business in a competition for “Best In Show”. WhitePages was one of the presenters. WhitePages is your go-to source for the most reliable contact information online. With accurate information for almost 200 million U.S. adults, they make finding and connecting with others incredibly simple—and incredibly free.

WhitePages is the people search market leader. Last year, they pulled in just over $66 million in revenue. They’ve gone from 3 to 120 employees in just the past couple of years. They have a ton of traffic to their site… and are consistently ranked as a top-50 website. There are over 2 billion people searches yearly on their site!!

There are several new things in store with WhitePages. Where do they go from here? They’ve done a great job of positioning themselves as an online directory. They are now trying to position themselves as a “connectory”. They are adding more components to what you can find about people, in a privacy-centric manner. It will allow consumers to control their own personal information, and the way they can be contacted. In this day and age, consumers demand (rightfully so!) to control what is shared about them, when and how!
