There’s a New YouTube Player!

Well, there’s a new YouTube video player to embed throughout the Internets – it’s for some of us, apparently…

Doesn’t seem to be too much of a leap forward, although (as evidenced by the following screen shot) you can tweak the colors to better match your site. I find the transitions to be a bit smoother, and my guess is that this new player is going to be forward-compatible with the YouTube advertising strategy.

Not sure if embeds have really helped my subscriber count – as there’s virtually no way of telling where new subscribers come from. I truly believe that YouTube is the vector for newer, better “podcast” subscribers. These are typically people who don’t know who I am – which is the audience I’m looking for (or, largely, the people who used to be addicted to TechTV).

Technology is an amazing thing, isn’t it? The digital world is the only thing that could provide us Easter Eggs that aren’t made of chocolate and spam made of greeting cards – not even Hormel could have through of that one! Of course, technology also brought about a new kind of person: the power user. And, it’s these power users that help people understand the world of technology, including domain name and the iPhone.

And yes, though she hasn’t been very public about it: Ponzi purchased an iPhone right before our mini-vacation this weekend. I went ballistic – up until the point where she started having problems with it. Then i started laughing – and then I started sleeping on the couch. Coincidence? George Noory says there’s no such thing as coincidences. Then again, George has never met Ponzi. I have stopped laughing long enough to recover 15 Health points and 25 Experience points.

A lot of things can go wrong in life: you can lose your car, your home, even your job. Heck, thanks to the digital world, it’s even easier to lose all of your personal information to a cyber-criminal. And, with new technologies coming out of the woodwork at an astounding rate, it’ll be much easier to have your personal information stolen in the blink of an eye.

On top of all of that, you have things like “802.11″ which is an identifier that can make non-techies turn their heads in confusion. Then there are the times when Windows screws up and your keyboard acts funky for no apparent reason.

I was invited to become a Branded Channel on YouTube this afternoon – largely because we’ve been producing and uploading 5 videos a day for the past couple of weeks. If you thought my live site was being done for pure fun, you’re pure wrong. It’s there to build community, support community, and extend community.

If you’re not putting your videos on YouTube, you’re insane.

And if you’re not putting videos online in the first place, you’re asleep at the wheel.
