John Lawyer seeks the impossible:

I need a little advice about a new video capture card. I built myself a new system using the Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe main board. I’m looking for a new PCI-E x16 VC board that I use to pipe my X Box 360 through and play Halo 2 on X Box Live, I won’t be viewing TV through this card. The problem I have is finding one that doesn’t cause any on screen lagging. What I mean is I have to be able to view my game play in real-time. I’m assuming these cards with this problem are software based rather than hardware based?

My last video capture card is an ATI ALL in Wonder 2006 edition, it’s great for TV viewing but horrible for piping a game console through because it’s not displaying in real-time. This card is now gathering dust in my closet. I can’t use this card in my new system because the main board lacks an AGP port.

What I don’t want to do is buy a new card and then find out that it sufferers from the same problem as the ATI card I mentioned above. The video card manufactures web sites are just horrible for choosing a video capture card, their geared towards TV viewing with the card rather then hooking up a game console to and they provide no information about how the card will work with a game console.

I don’t think there’s any way around the problem…
