In front of me is a small, light-weight device. I’ve seen it advertised in the past. When I ask people to send me ideas for cool USB products, I keep getting this one sent to me. It’s a USB beverage chiller. I was skeptical as to whether one of these would work or not, so I decided to try it for myself. Once it’s plugged in for awhile, it will cool to about 45 degrees Fahrenheit, which is definitely pretty chilly.

I didn’t realize Mac OS X could do this. I had this cooler plugged into the laptop, and at one point the Mac told me that it was drawing too much USB power and would shut it down. Wow. That’s impressive. So, I changed it up and plugged it into one of the USB grommets on my desk. Or, you can plug it into a wall.

If you drink cold drinks near your computer, you need one of these. This will keep your drink cold until you finish it. If you’re like me, you can’t drink soda or anything once it has gotten warm. This Cool It USB Chiller is worth every bit of the $24.95 cost.
