If you have any beautiful icons on your desktop, chances are they came from The Iconfactory. You may also use Twitterrific, which comes from some of the guys at the Iconfactory. I was able to catch up with two of them recently at Macworld.

I asked them if porting to the iPhone and iPod Touch has been beneficial for them. They stated that having these has been more profitable for them than even the desktop work they’ve done. Keep in mind, these are the same guys responsible for the Indiana Jones icons that I raved about awhile back. Much of their work is done for OS X, but they are also the ones who created the core Icons for Windows XP and Vista.

Iconfactory has been around for thirteen years now, creating icons and other software… including things for Ubuntu. They don’t only create icons, they also create other graphics and actual UI for different softwares. They are the people behind the design for Roxio’s Toast and Popcorn programs. The Iconfactory created the UI for both of those, along with many other popular titles we use on a daily basis.

Version 2 of Twitterrific is coming soon. It will have features like following and unfollowing people from within the app. It will also have the ability to have multiple accounts, and do some filtering with it as well. They aren’t able to tell me too many of the new features, understandably… but I know that it’s going to be great.

The Iconfactory guys have had a great time at Macworld. They both stated that they loved being able to connect with people, and finally meet them face-to-face. I have to agree with them. Making these connections is the reason that I try to attend as many conferences as I can.
