I was blown away by what he does, and how good he is. I was also (apparently wrongly so) surprised to find we had such a talented musician in our little Geek community.

As I said… I was wrong to assume! I heard from several of you out there, all doing the same types of things as David!! Who knew we had all of these people among us making music, laying down tracks and jamming every day!? I certainly didn’t – but I do now!

You can create your own new beats. There is a sound bank online that allows you to download their application. You can then use it to easily create your own cool new tunes like I did. Weepr is available for download right now.

Weepr is an italian project that allow you to create a Beat. Weepr is a flash drum machine / step sequencer free to download in AIR Version, so cross operating system! In the next release you’ll be able to make the weepr widget to share your beat trought internet. There is also a support website (in italian now) where you can find a video demo.

Weepr works with Adobe Air. If you remember the Tenori-On, you know that I’m no musician. But I love music, and I love to create things. Certainly, Weepr fits inline with something just as creative, and more affordable of course. The interface is very similar to Tenori-On, and it’s free. It works quite well, too!

The concept is simple. You have five different layers. On each layer, you have a different musical instrument, such as drums. You can change the tempo, pause or even erase your compositions. It doesn’t have a lot of features, but then again it is free. It’s still fun to play with, and will become your next big time-waster!

Pixie gets upset with me when I won’t listen to her favorite music, which is Slim Whitman. I listen to all sorts of different music, but that’s just something I can’t handle for long. Recently, I got turned on to a band named Ratatat, thanks to my friend Mona. So I started playing Ratatat in Firefox using Rhapsody, and it’s great. I’ve yet to find a song of theirs I don’t like. I’d play you something in this video, but I don’t have the rights to. Anyway, as I was listening to this music, I received a list of top five bands that sound similar and I may like.

Dosh sounds quite a bit like Ratatat. They combine a variety of instrumentals with excellent lyrics.

Talkdemonic may have a weird name, but their music has a great beat to it. Apparently, my speaker setup would be able to take full advantage of what they play.

El Ten Eleven has awesome instrumentals, and their percussion stands out from the melody.

Blue Man Group is just amazing to watch live.

Couch is more of a techno mixed with futuristic sounding band.

Steven, I appreciate the recommendation. I listen to pretty much anything and everything. I even like listening to 8-bit sounds! Send along any other recommendations you may have for music I can get into!
