This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of GoToAssist. All opinions are 100% mine.

The age-old question has been wondering how many ways there are to support someone when they have a computer problem. If your career is built on helping people, especially software problems, you may want to look into GoToAssist. You can use GoToAssist on virtually any platform. There are many ways you can use to support your user, but you won’t find one that is faster – and easier – to get the job done, for both you and your customer.

Using GoToAssist Express is a matter of common sense, honestly. It allows you to quickly and easily connect to the other person. It works on all platforms, so you aren’t hindered when you’re taking on new clients. Best of all, GoToAssist Express is a very powerful little tool. Use it to install updates to client machines. Diagnose problems using the comprehensive reports that the software will give you. Save yourself a whole lot of time, headaches and money by using a piece of software that will pay for itself in a matter of days.

If you’re in to tech support, you’re just better off using GoToAssist. It will make your life a whole lot easier. You will be connected to your customer’s machine in a matter of moments, and can use the powerful diagnostics tools to pinpoint the issues quickly.

The bottom line is that if you’re looking for the best way to get things done, GoToAssist is the name of the game.

I Get By With a Little Help from my Friends

Do you remember that song? If you’re as old as I am, then I know you’re singing it in your head now, simply from reading the title. It’s true, you know. We ‘get by’ with the help of our friends. Sometimes, they may not even realize they are helping us, yet they do – simply by being there. Life is full of unexpected surprises, both good and bad. We can’t always be superman (woman!) and just handle everything on our own.

It’s ok to reach out to someone when you’re hurting/mad/confused/pissed off. It’s ok to need someone to talk to. It’s ok to need your friends! After all, they need you, too!

So why am I writing about this, anyway? It’s not some deep thought, nor a cry for help, I promise! I just happened to hear the song on the radio a bit earlier, and it made me remember how thankful I am to have such an awesome circle of friends surrounding me. I hope that you have that in your lives, as well!

One great way to make new friends is to reach out to like-minded people on social networking sites, like both Lockergnome and Geeks. Search through titles of posts and read things that interest you. Here, let me make it easy on you!

I had several interesting tech calls tonight. We start off with Rick calling to ask about his Panasonic cordless phone like mine. He’s having trouble recording with his, and wanted to know how I was able to do this with mine. All I did was plug in a cheap headset. I then went into the phone itself, and told it to set a custom ring tone. After that, I simply recorded myself singing the fun “Put the lime in the coconut” song and set it as the ring tone!

The next caller had a question about his new Mac Mini. He’s looking at the display settings, and wonders what the difference is with the Htz. That is his refresh rate. He’s having problems with it being on 60 Htz and having it blurry. But when he puts it on 75 Htz… it’s clear and crisp. However, it has a line going through it. He has a Gateway 20″ LCD monitor, with a line running through it. The native resolution of the LCD is probably 60 Htz, and doesn’t really have a refresh rate. He needs to stick with 60 Htz, and find out the native resolution of the monitor, and use it. It sounds to me like the monitor is having issues. Ahhhh wait. When using Windows on this monitor, it works fine. But on Leopard, the text is kind of blurry or faded out. So, he needs to go into System Preferences on OS X. Then go to the Appearance panel, and choose a “font smoothing style” of medium or strong. This basically changes the way the fonts are rendered on OS X. This should clear things up and make them crisper.

Our next caller had an Xbox 360 question. They wanted to set up the wireless controller to a computer. It’s simple. Just use a little gadget made by Microsoft that has a USB plug. It’s a gaming receiver.

Wow the calls are just rolling in! The next call came in from Pyroza. He won a webcam awhile back, and he still hasn’t received it. I told him he needs to get ahold of Tim from Ustream. Unfortunately, I have no control over the sending of the webcams. All I do is pick a winner. The rest is up to Ustream themselves.
