http://live.pirillo.com/ – Lately, I’ve been asked a lot about my sign off at the end of my videos. It’s not some secret code, and it actually goes back a very long way.

Years ago I was on a radio show on WHO 1040 in Iowa. I hosted a tech broadcast on Saturday afternoons, which ended up being quite popular. On my first day, I kept thinking to myself that I needed some sort of snazzy sign off or ending for the show, instead of just saying “see ya next time”. Out popped “E ya later!”. I’m not sure still if that was something I consciously came up with, or if it just came out of nowhere. No matter… I began signing off every week that way.

When I moved to TechTv, I took that saying with me. I decided since it was an audio sign off, I should add something visible to it as well… so my 3 finger salute was born with it. Holding up the first three fingers is a geek sign standing for Ctrl-Alt-Del. I stopped doing this for awhile when I started doing these live videos.

There’s a community member at large who goes by the handle “CoffeeHouseShmuck”. I think he comments on pretty much every blog post I make, and I love it. His thoughts are always good, and written very well. A couple of months ago, he asked in a comment why I don’t use this phrase anymore. So… I brought it back. Since so many of you newer subscribers keep asking what it means and where it came from, I thought I’d fill you in.

That’s all there is to it! Really! So E ya later!
