Healthy Body – Healthy Mind – Healthy Geek

I’m sure by now you’ve seen my Yoga video, right? I’ve come to realize in recent months that my level of productivity had decreased. I simply no longer had the energy to keep up with all I had to do. I know my stress levels were through the roof. What I didn’t realize is that having a healthy mind is also tied to having a healthy body… and vice versa. By getting out and participating in more physical activities, I’m also learning to relax my mind, and de-stress myself. It’s working, too… I have renewed energy and enthusiasm!

One of the cool things my friend Imei does is to teach Yoga. She often works with people in corporate environments, to help them learn how to be more productive due to learning how to relax. Isn’t that an interesting concept for a Geek? That whole relaxing thing kind of worried me a bit at first. I have to admit, I feel more comfortable in my own body now. I feel as though I’m getting more oxygen… and that little spot between my shoulder blades no longer hurts due to having bad posture.

Recharge Your Soul

Being able to recharge your soul – and your mind – is something that we take for granted. We tend to ignore doing this, even though we need it often. We don’t want to take time out to recharge, to relax and unwind. We’re busy, you know. We have deadlines. We have places to go, people to network with. There are emails to check, and social networks to keep up with. Who has time to recharge?

Is White Noise the Right Noise?

White noise is relaxing, isn’t it? If you’ve never listened to it, you might want to start. Some people prefer to have a television or radio on when they try to sleep. The problem with that is you end up focusing your attention on it, instead of letting your mind drift and relaxing. We have friends who insist on having a white noise machine in their bedroom. My assistant, Kat is so addicted to sleeping with a fan noise, she takes a small travel fan with her on the road.
