<p><strong>Tips to Keep Your Back Healthy</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Stand up</strong> &#8211; When standing still, make sure you are standing up straight with your knees bent just a little. This reduces pressure on your lower back.</li>
<li><strong>Sitting Still</strong> &#8211; Sit with your knees higher than your hips whenever possible. If you&#8217;re at a desk, consider investing in a foot rest to accomplish this.</li>
<li><strong>Reach out</strong> &#8211; Stand on a step stool to reach things that you cannot get to. Don&#8217;t over-extend yourself, or you run the risk of pulling something.</li>
<li><strong>Heavy Duty</strong> &#8211; Always kneel down to lift something, never just bend at the waist. Lift with your leg muscles, and not your back.</li>
<li><strong>Move it</strong> &#8211; Push heavy items instead of pulling them. Use your arm and leg muslces to start the push.</li>
<li><strong>Carry it</strong> &#8211; If you have to carry a heavy object, hold it as close to your body as possible. This reduces the strain on your back, by allowing the rest of your body to help support the item.</li>
<li><strong>Sleep Tight</strong> &#8211; Sleeping on your back adds 55 pounds of pressure to it. If you must sleep this way, put a pillow under your knees to take half that strain off.</li>
<li><strong>Get Fit</strong> &#8211; Being overweight puts more strain on your back. If you are over your &#8220;ideal&#8221; weight by even ten pounds, your back will suffer the consequences.</li>
