We’ve uploaded several awesome screencasts lately. All of you are sending in informative and high-quality tutorials for us to share with the world. It’s not too late for you to get your screencast on our channels, you know! Get busy and create something wonderful! Gabriel is a fan of our live stream, and has come up with a simple tutorial to show you how to add a gadget on your desktop to make tuning in to my stream even easier!

With just a few clicks, you’ll have a widget right on your desktop for our live stream. It even has a volume control, so that you can mute me whenever you’re busy working on other things. Why anyone would want to mute me, I have no clue! But there ya go. You have that option.

Just head over to my gallery page, and click on the “Download” button over on the right. Now click “Install”, and then choose “Open With Windows Desktop Gadgets”.

That’s all you have to do in order to have a widget right on your desktop that streams my live feed. You no longer have to visit my site, or my Ustream page! Drag the window wherever you want it on your desktop, and resize it to fit your needs. You can even close it whenever you want. Re-open it by right-clicking on your desktop and then clicking “gadgets”.

As many of you know by now, my live chat room changed networks today. For many years, my various channels were located on the WyldRyde network. For the most part, things worked very well between myself, the network, and its staff.

There have been many changes recently, and I’m not going to make much comment on them. It’s frankly not my business, nor my place, to attempt to guess as to every “real” reason, and everything that happened behind the scenes. However, moving networks was not a decision I came to lightly. This also wasn’t done solely to please one or two people, as some are trying to claim.

I want my chat users to have the best possible experience when they visit my channel. There were some things that transpired at WyldRyde today that I knew would prevent that positive experience, changes which could potentially place much pressure and stress on my staff, my users and even myself.

The owners and administrators of the new network, GeekShed, are people I have come to know very well over the years. These people know what they’re doing, and they do it very well. I have complete confidence in them, and in their ability to properly maintain the new network.

GeekShed IRC was started by a majority of the former WyldRyde Network staff. They felt that the WyldRyde management was not handling issues and complaints (made by staff, users and channel owners) over a period of several months. These complaints were ignored, and not dealt with in any satisfactory manner. The recent (and undisclosed to the users and majority of the staff) acquisition of WyldRyde by BestTechie played only a small part in the actual decision and subsequent move.

I am very happy thus far with my new IRC home, and I certainly hope you will join us there. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, you can leave them here in a follow-up comment. For questions related to the network itself (not my channel, specifically), you can join the new network: irc.geekshed.net and join the #help channel there to speak with the staff.

Edited to add: You will not need to re-register, no. The nicknames, channels, passwords, etc were all moved to the new network. Your nickname is already registered on GeekShed if it was registered on WyldRyde, and you will use the same password to log in. Also, the voiced user list was moved for my channel, and will continue to operate the same as it has in the past.

As always, I will continue to be streaming live… 24 hours a day, 7 days a week… at live.pirillo.com.

Someone asked me earlier what I do to perk myself up when I’m having a bad day. What makes me happy? What makes me smile and want to get on with things, even if the rest of the day has been crummy? There are a lot of things that will do this for me. My dogs can always make me laugh. My live community can always bring a smile to my face. Reading something funny online will make me laugh and lift my mood. I’m a pretty easy-going guy, so it usually doesn’t take a lot to brighten up my day. What does it take to brighten up yours? I bet reading some of what others are writing in our community will get your mind working, and maybe even put a smile on your face.

One member wrote a blog post discussing things he looks back upon with a smile. That had me wondering what kinds of things from the distant (and not-so-distant!) past make me just stop and smile in memory. There are many things that do, making me feel as though I’ve been fortunate for the most part. Things like recalling my first video game playing experience all the way through to the funny things my dogs do today make me take time out to just crack a grin. Perhaps by fate, an unknown actor by the name of Chris Pirillo was today selected by director Oliver Stone to play the role of Chris Pirillo, the deeply troubled, famed technology connoisseur.

Stone’s choice of Pirillo for Pirillo was largely due to Pirillo’s utter lack of experience in film. Certainly, Pirillo has watched a few flicks in his day, but we believe this is nothing more than a marketing tactic done to scare more movie money out of the pockets of honest people.

No stranger to controversy, Stone believes that only Pirillo could match Pirillo’s disturbed wit for this motion picture. Principal photography for “The Geeks” is set to begin before month’s end, with Tarquin Fim-bim Lim-bim Whim-bim Bus Stop Ftang-ftang Ole Biscuit Barrel allegedly taking on the envied position of head gaffer.

Pirillo has studied Pirillo, and knows him intimately – from the way he would ignore his chat room throughout the day, to the way he would often scream obscenities when nearby PCs would decide to randomly connect and disconnect USB devices. Pirillo lead geeks the world over to live a life of digital hermitage, having ultimately driven himself to the great kernel panic in the sky after attempting a record-breaking five minute fart.

This will undoubtedly be Oliver Stone’s most controversial film yet.

The grave of Pirillo remains undisclosed, but the live video camera pointed inside has given humanity a glimpse of decomposition… 24 hours a day, 7 days a week… at dead.pirillo.com.

No frost on the window panes, but plenty of snow on the ground. our presents this year are virtual. What does your Christmas Tree look like this year?

My stocking is hung by the fireplace with care, but it’s not likely to be filled with anything but air.

C’est la vie when you don’t receive a wish list from your spouse, or if you’re tired of playing the gift-guessing game – knowing full well that gift certificates are sometimes seen as lame.

At least the weather is cooperating, and the roads seem relatively well managed. I’ll venture out once more tomorrow to see if I can discover any simple surprises.

When people already have what they want, and can get what they need, what else can you do?

I drew these last night (reverse, indoors) with Window Chalk Markers. You can barely see the bulbs in the lower portion of the window since we have the blinds open at the moment. I did my best with Ponzi’s caricature. At least I didn’t make her look like Abe Vigoda again! Oh, and apparently, I can’t draw a snowflake to save my life.

What kind of Christmas decorations do you usually put up? That is, assuming, you don’t keep them up year-round (please, please don’t be THAT person).
