I used a digital camera to take a photo of the chat room, and then had it automatically transferred to my Flickr account. I could just as easily send it to my Facebook page, or any other account that is supported by the Eye-Fi. The picture was transferred wirelessly over my home network from the camera directly to my desktop… and then right to my Flickr! Using the Eye-Fi SD card, it is a snap to upload photos without having to go through several different steps.

The Eye-Fi comes with a handy little reader, since you may not have an SD card reader. The camera itself doesn’t do the transfer, in case you haven’t figured it out. It’s the Eye-Fi SDHC card doing all of the work. It’s automagic!

How often do you forget to download photos from your camera? Actually, a more likely scenario is that you just haven’t made the time to do it. If you have several pictures stored on there, it can take quite awhile for you to download them to your computer, upload them somewhere like Flickr, tag them and finally have them ready for the World to view. Using the Eye-Fi takes almost all of those steps out of the process, saving you time and headaches!

The Eye-Fi SDHC card has up to 4GB of storage, so you don’t have to worry about not having enough room for everything. One of the coolest things is that it provides an automatic backup of your memories by organizing them according to date on your computer for you! Don’t we wish more gadgets or programs would do this for us? Life sure would be easier!

You know you want to brag to all of your friends because you know me. You’re a Gnomie, right? I’ve been running Lockergnome for about 13 years now, and I wanted to give something back to everyone who has supported me. So, go have some fun over at the new photo site!

How many icons do you have on your desktop? I’m betting you probably have a few, unless you have them hidden. Even so, you still have tons of icons on your computer. An icon isn’t like a ‘normal’ graphic, since it can have multiple sizes or resolutions within the same file. They’re quite complex little pieces of art, so how can you easily create them yourself?

ConvertIcon is a simple icon utility. It can import ICO, PNG, GIF, and JPEG formats and export to high-quality PNG or ICO files. There is no software to download and it’s 100% free. It truly is this simple, folks. Just select an image from your computer, choose the size of the icon you want to create, and wait a few seconds while the site does the work for you!

Create custom icons for your documents folder, your My Computer desktop icon, or use them anyplace you wish – on your Windows computer, of course. Sorry Mac people, this one isn’t for you!

The best part of this site isn’t only that it’s easy to use: it’s the fact that you can export your icon into all of the sizes you might want or need. They’re all included in the .ico file (or .png!) that is output when you are finished.

My first camera ever was an old Polaroid. I took instant snapshots, much like I did today to see if the camera still works. It indeed does! Does anyone other than me remember the Polaroid camera? Did you know that you can make your own Polaroid photo right online?

Poladroid is so simple to use, and the results are awesome. Download and install the application, then drag and drop your pictures in. It works in both Mac OS X and Windows, too! Turn any normal and boring photo into a Polaroid look-alike in seconds!

It even make the same noise that the old Polaroid cameras did as it’s processing. You’ll watch it develop in front of your eyes, which is a lot of fun. You can even grab ahold of the photo with your mouse and shake it around to make it develop faster.

It looks nearly exactly the same as if you used a Polaroid camera. You can email your creations, print them, or add them to the official Poladroid Flickr Pool.

How often do you change your avatar? You know what an avatar is – it’s that graphical representation of yourself that you use online! You put avatars on Twitter, on forums, and just about anywhere else you have a presence online. Wicket keeps bugging me for an avatar. Crazy dog – I’ve made him one! He is just too lazy to use it anywhere!

If you want to spice up your avatar, consider using Avatar Pho.to. It’s a free web-based photo editing platform, with one-click fixing! Edit your pictures and add cool effects to them in seconds, just by clicking your mouse button.

You can take a graphic and animate it even. If you look at the examples, you’ll see several different representations of Britney Spears. She appears blurry, animated, and even sketched! You can matrix your avatar, set it on fire, or make it look like it’s underwater!

Assuming you don’t want to use Britney as your avatar, just upload your own picture or link to wherever it resides online. I uploaded one of my own avatars to play with. The effects are fun, and allowed me to spice up the old boring avatar. I wouldn’t recommend using MY picture for your own avatar… you do want friends online, right?

I’ve long believed that creativity is the pinnacle of intelligence… to take something that is in your head and create something that the rest of the world can enjoy. It just doesn’t get better than that. I’m not creative in the least. I just sit here and talk and wave my hands around! Luckily, I have many friends who are creative.

So how do artists connect online? I’m glad you asked! A creative friend of mine recently started a new website called Artician for just this purpose. Artician is a new community for creative professionals! They make it easy for anyone to build, manage and customize their portfolio. They also promote and feature creative talent… showing your work to the World!

Upload your digital portfolio, and create a blog if you choose. Even if you aren’t someone who creates – you can explore those who do! If you’re a lover of art in any form, you can join this site and browse some amazing pieces of art.

Look at your walls… what’s on them? You may have posters or pictures you posted from a store. Why not put something original on your wall that was created by someone online. You may find a picture that just speaks to you on some level. That would definitely be something you want to purchase and frame.

Artician makes creativity come alive. Art should speak to you. What’s beautiful in your eyes may not be to someone else. That’s personal. You’ll find things that you find absolutely amazing on Artician, I promise.

Please stop buying and installing desktop software if there’s a better alternative that exists on the Web. Sure, you may have a photo editing software package. But I guarantee that it doesn’t have the amount of templates and effects as what you can find over at Big Huge Labs.

When you need to search for an image, where do you turn first? Most of you will probably answer that you use Google Image search. Some of you might check Flickr, or maybe even other means. Why not use a website that allows you to search several different places – all at once? Cyclops allows you to do just that.

The hours spent laboring through stock photo sites. Desperately searching for the perfect image. It burdened our creativity. Weighed heavily on our visions for design.
But then the perfect solution crowned! And, before long, our beautiful baby Cyclops was born. With his father’s eye for photography, film and illustrations, he knows where to find the best, the most striking and most unique. And with his mother’s “eager to please” attitude, he collects everything he finds and brings it straight to us!

I have been addicted to the Web since the day it was born. The other day, I did a video about Cameroid which can help you do all sorts of cool things with your video camera. I came upon a link from my friend Mona for a site that is similar to Cameroid… only even better. On PhotoFunia, you will get “the photo software that should have come with your camera”.

Click on any of the pre-defined effects, and then browse your computer to choose a photo. PhotoFunia will automatically apply your selected effect to that picture before displaying it! Once your picture is ready, you can save it to your computer, save it to ImageShack, or save it out as an avatar.

The second place I want to tell you about comes from JoshM. Dumpr is where you create marvellous photos to share with your friends. It’s very similar to both Cameroid and PhotoFunia. Again, you can take an image and throw it into a variety of effects. This site is free, or you can choose to sign up and pay a fee. Once you pay, you’ll have access to even more effects. Once you finish with your photo, you can save it to your computer or Flickr, or send it to others in an email.

So there are two very cool sites you can use to play with your pictures, and create something new.

You may not agree with it, but it is pronounced “Jiff”, according to the person who created it. What do you do if you want to create an animated GIF from a series of photos? And what if you want to pull those photos from somewhere like Flickr? You can do this easily by using Gickr. The feature to grab photos from your Flickr account isn’t quite up and running yet, but will be very soon. You can, however, upload pictures from your computer, and turn them into animated GIFs with ease.

Gickr.com lets you instantly create Animated GIF online, free, right now! Just upload pictures or grab them from your Flickr. Create funny flashy slideshows with you and your friends, cartoons, previews, banners, etc. Post them anywhere you can post pictures: MySpace, Bebo, HI5 etc. No need for flash. Show them to people in our Gallery.

Have you ever tried to take a color picture and turn it into a black and white one? I don’t mean greyscale… I’m talking just black and white. If you’re not skilled with using an image editor, you’re going to have to rely on a service. I found an excellent website that will take those color photos of yours, and turn them into a very cool work of art.

Magnigraph allows you to easily create your own cool-looking magnigraphs a picture or sketch. Your magnigraph can then be scaled down for printing on T-shirts, mugs, or posters. You can either use a picture that is already on your computer, or enter the URL of a photo on the Web. Low-resolution, high contrast images work the best, and please make sure you don’t use someone’s copyrighted material without their permission.

It takes only a couple of seconds for your image to render. There are a few different options you can play around with. Click on the red or blue links at the top of the picture, and your image will render in those colors, instead. Easily change the size proportionally by clicking one of the preset sizes just above the picture, as well.

Why would you want to turn a color picture into a black and white one? You can use these to print onto tote bags, coffee mugs, or any number of other items to meet your promotional needs. This is extremely simple, and a lot of fun to use. Have fun playing around with your pictures today!
