http://live.pirillo.com/ – Tonight I opened up the phone lines to take live calls from some of our viewers and chatters. You can always leave me a voice mail at 888-pirillo.

Caller asks: What got you into blogging in the first place?

Chris answers: My background is in English, and more specifically… writing. When I first got online wayyyyyy back when, I began writing my thoughts. Then, of course, blogging software made its appearance, and made my writing job much easier! Now I have the ability to monetize what I write, such as by using Google Adsense.

Caller asks: I called before, asking for something that can delete unused partitions. I found one, and now I’m confused. The tool finds my C: partition, a fat16 one, a fat32 one, and one called “unallocated”. What exactly should I delete without losing my data?

Chris answers: I remember your call! You said that you had an install of Linux that you no longer were using. What you need to do is find out how much space that Linux install needed, and then run the tool to find out how much space is on each of those partitions. It should be very close to the same. I would be very careful about deleting the fat32 partition. That is most likely your Windows Installation. I think I’m going to see about getting a discount for all of you for Partition Magic. That’s my favorite tool when trying to manage partitions.

Caller asks: Do you think Apple will ever open their Operating Systems to be able to be used on ANY computer?

Chris answers: I certainly hope so! I personally think that’s the way they need to go. Apple has more predatory practices than anyone. While I can understand that, it is my opinion that they need to be more open.

Caller asks: What is the difference between HFS file system and NTFS file system?

Chris answers: Other than the fact they are both file systems? Really, there’s not a “difference”, per se. Apple uses the HFS system, and Microsoft uses the NTFS. They are simply the file systems for two separate types of Operating Systems. The only reasoning for the difference is so each company can control their particular type of hardware.

Caller asks: How can I convert media files?

Chris answers: For Windows, you can use Total Video Converter. This is a program I don’t much care for, though. It’s about the best you’ll find for Windows. For Mac users, I recommend either ffmpegX or VisualHub. Both of these programs are easy to use. Simply drag and drop your file, and tell the programs what you want to convert to. Presto! You’re done!

Caller asks: Chris, I actually have an answer to that last question, if that’s ok? I prefer a program called SUPER.

Chris answers: Are you KIDDING me? That program is super awful in my opinion! It has a horrible user experience, difficult to use, and clutters the desktop worse than any other program. EVER! But thanks for calling in!

Chris: Everyone has gone to bed at 12:30am!? Well I guess we’re finished for tonight! Thanks for visiting with us, and be sure to always check us out at live.pirillo.com
