When is a Tablet PC not a Tablet PC?

“Divine” in our chat room was asking me if he could use a pen (stylus) on a USB tablet and a mouse simultaneously. The answer is a definitive yes – and I just demonstrated it tonight on the live show. Moreover, here’s word from Doug Little at Wacom:

A pen tablet can do anything a mouse can and more. It is a far more natural, intuitive and powerful way to interface with your computer. Yes, it can be used with any application. I use mine for everything. From Word and PowerPoint to Photoshop. Navigation with absolute positioning, the ability to draw, paint and annotate with pressure sensitivity are all bonuses that a mouse just cannot deliver. The mouse will always have its place for certain individuals, but working with a pen tablet is truly a delight. And, obviously, the pen tablet shines and is fully embraced in the creative space. Digital content creators such as artists, designers, photographers, animators, etc. find the pen offers much more control, comfort, accuracy, and the ability to express more freely than the mouse. Plus, Wacom works very closely with software developers of over 100 applications to make sure pen input features such as pressure-sensitivity are written into the programs. Additionally, Vista and Office 2007 provide exciting new pen input benefits that expand communication, navigation and collaboration methods.

Thanks to Travis in the chat room for connecting us with Doug!
