Outlook Contacts from OPML

I love our community. From Eric’o’theque, Gnomedex Outlook Contacts from the Gnomedex OPML. It doesn’t work with Outlook 2000, though:

Here’s something interesting for the other attendees: Chris released the OPML of the folks registered for Gnomedex. Dave pointed to a directory listing web page created out of the OPML. Over the weekend and a few recent late nights, I ran a script to get the OPML into Outlook as contacts and then decided to put snapshots of the various speakers into the contact cards, along with throwing in categories for Gnomedex and Gnomedex-Speaker.

Then I gave the mouse a cookie.

I decided, hey, why not get to know all of your fellow attendees by visiting their given web page. And, hey, if they have a headshot, why not throw that into their contact info. Oh, and, hey, if they have a bio or such, why not throw that into their contact details.

This got a little carried away. So I’d like to share it, if I could: Outlook contacts for Gnomedex 06.

Time Management!?

I have too many things I need to do, and I’ve got no time to do ’em all. I’ve had so many late nights in the past week, it’s not even funny. Didn’t even have a chance to check my email until 11am today! I stayed up last night working on helping the Outlook team, but I still have a few more things I need to tweak in this site’s template. As I mentioned in last night’s report, I just got the Gateway computer – so I spent most of my time on the Vista laptop while waiting for files to copy from one machine to the other. I’ve gotta get everything set up for me on the new machine, knowing that I’ll be getting an even newer one soon enough (AMD-based, likely an FX-60). Time Mangement? I don’t need management, I just need more time to do the things I’ve gotta do. It’ll be another late night tonight as well – with the weekend coming up (promising to be filled with an even heavier workload). My emails are stacking up, too; if you sent me a note in the past day or so, don’t expect a response until I can get Outlook 2000 up and running again later this afternoon after I do a hit on on10. Oh, and… I wouldn’t even consider using IE7 on Vista. It’s Firefox until I can copy over my copy of Maxthon. When I get time… when I find time…

Outlook 2007 Might Not Suck!

I can’t believe this. I’m giving Microsoft Office Beta 2 a shot, after receiving the DVD set at WinHEC yesterday. It’s running on my Vista Beta 2 laptop right now. The first thing I did? Fire up Outlook to see if they had addressed a few of the larger bugs I’ve been submitting to them since before Outlook XP was unleashed onto an unsuspecting public. It’s not perfect, but it’s showing a bit of promise. They have a lot of UI work to clean up before I could give this my stamp of approval. Here’s my first round of feedback…
