Views and opinions of this writer are not necessarily my own:

Many people yearn for the "good ol' days" which, for my "peace and love" generation, may very well mean the 1960's. But there's also plenty of us who were not yet born during that period in history, or were too young. As far as I know, there hasn't yet been a Time Machine invented, nor a travel agency specializing in "Time Travel". Fortunately however, there ARE ways to go back to the glorious sights and sounds of the Sixties without getting stuck in a time warp. Here are 5 ways you can take yourself back to the "Age of Aquarius":

(1) Rent a Sixties film!

There are some groovy ones out there, guaranteed to transport you to another time and (tie-dye) space. Among those, are:

Woodstock

Festival Express

Monterey Pop

Easy Rider

Alice's Restaurant

Midnight Cowboy

(2) Listen to some Sixties music!

Buy yourself some CDs, purchase tunes online! Dig around in your collection or that of your folks or hip grandparents! Break out the vinyl! In my opinion, no Sixties collection is complete without at least a few recordings of the following:

Jimi Hendrix

Janis Joplin

The Doors

Grateful Dead

The Beatles

Rolling Stones (early stuff)

Many more artists and bands can be mentioned here, but those are the basics upon which a good Sixties auditory time machine can be had.

(3) Patchouli Patchouli Patchouli!

THE signature scent! You either love it or you hate it. But you can't be without it, if you truly want to do this right! You dig? You can start by learning more about the plant: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Patchouli – and then finding shops that carry essence oil or purchasing some online. Other tell-tale scents of that time period include (but are not limited to):

Sandalwood

Nag Champa

Frangipani

(4) Tie Dye and Love Beads!

Go out and buy some tie-dye shirts or, much better yet, MAKE your own! Tie-dye all your clothes! Tie-dye your environment! Show up at your "nine to five" office job wearing your best art! Buy some beads and string, sit down with friends and have a love-beads stringing party! Don't forget the patchouli incense and Janis Joplin tunes in the background!

(5) Peace and Flowers to a Stranger!

More important than anything, the spirit of the Sixties was all about "peace and love". These were some very rough times and a time where we needed to be reminded that we are all ONE. So, take some time today to smile at a passing stranger, and say Hi! Maybe even flash him a peace sign or hand him a flower! That was a "Top Five", but here's a bonus idea: Take a trip to San Francisco, which was the central hub of the "Summer of Love". You can embark on the "Haight Ashbury Flower Power Walking Tour"!

Lastly, for ALL things "hippy", let a hippy be your guide. That's all I got, so I'm "gonna split". Peace Out, Man!
Luis Diaz with a small request: that he create a GPK incorporating Ponzi’s two names (well, “Ponzi” is just her nickname – with Latthanapon being her birth name). You see, as I was going through ANS5, she lamented that they never have any GPKs with her name on them. I thought: “Let me see if I can commission an artist to surprise her.” Sure enough, Luis will create a GPK just for you (different options at different prices). He whipped up this sketch:
<div

And today, did a series of watercolors for us to choose from (yes, I couldn’t hold the surprise back when the original pencil GPK sketch came in). We picked the upper far right and the lower far left – which will be arriving in traditional Garbage Pail Kids sticker dimensions soon enough. This is just too cool:
<div

I may ask him to go back and render a full-color version of one of ‘em to make it look like a genuine GPK. Maybe I’ll just commission another one? What about… WINER Diner, Noble SCOBLE, KEVIN Rosey, Scary ARRINGTON, RUBEL Yell, Tin CANTER, PIRILLO Armadillo, Messy MESSINA, or PONZI Screams? Those would be perfect giveaways at Gnomedex.<ul
