GI is dedicated to the fact that smart is sexy. And they want to interview… me?!

I’m not even going to attempt to write out all of the questions that Vanessa from Geek Illustrated sent me… and my answers. They’re all in the video! This was a fun experience, and of course flattering. Who wouldn’t like to be called sexy, simply because they are smart?!

What did you want to be when you grew up? Believe it or not, I started out wanting to be a farmer. After that, I was set on being a doctor, until I realized that Math and I do not get along so well. For awhile during my Sophmore year, I felt destined to become a Priest. I knew I had hear the calling… but found out it was a wrong number.

What is your first memory of technology? That would be my Grandfather’s Commodore VIC-20. We used it with a little black and white tv in the back room at his house. My first memory with the Internet was in college. I think it was in the Fall of 1992, I signed up for a free Email account. A friend and I sat in the computer lab, and emailed each other back and forth. I remember how amazed I was, and how excited. I knew that this was the start of something huge, and couldn’t wait to be a part of it.

What gets you going in the morning? Eh, sometimes it’s an alarm clock. I’m a night owl, so I usually sleep later in the day than most people. Seriously, checking my Email is what gets me up and moving. That is my way of communication with most people. Doing what I do every day is humbling and thrilling at the same time. Knowing that I can and do make a difference and really help people is a gift to me. That’s my legacy.

What is your favorite music to Geek out to? I have a very eclectic taste. There isn’t much that I won’t listen to, we’ll put it that way. At any given time, my playlist will have folk music on there… jazz… classical… rock… R&B… pop. You get the idea.

What is your favorite Geek food and beverage? HAH! One answer, and everyone in the chat room is now shouting it out. Peet’s Coffee. No food, just Peet’s.

What is your personal definition of innovation? Personally, I feel that innovation is like a puzzle. Putting together one piece with another is where the puzzle comes together. All the different things the Internet can do are all small pieces of a puzzle.

Is smart sexy? Absolutely! Why? There are people all over the world who are sexy, but when they open their mouths… yikes! For me, the brain comes first. I’ve always been attracted to someone if they are intelligent. Being able to carry on a conversation on the same intellectual level is sexy. Being in tune with someone’s mind is just as sexy as their looks.

If you were a gadget, what would you be? Hmm. I’ve never really thought of this one. I would have to say…………………. I have to be something fun, since I’m a bit crazy. So I’d say I’d want to be a PSP. It’s constantly updated, interchangeable, fun to use… and of course, small. Good things come in small packages.

And that’s that. I hope this was enough information for Vanessa. This was a lot of fun, and definitely join us some time in our chat room! Thanks for having me!

Want to embed this video into your blog?
