We uploaded a screencast from Billy not long ago. He received excellent reviews, so I was only too happy to look at his newest creation. This one will teach you what exactly Dropbox is, what it’s for, and why you should be using it! I use it on a daily basis, myself, and love it! Don’t forget that you could have your screencast featured on my channels. Get to work, and email me your best!

Dropbox is the easiest way to store, sync, and, share files online. There’s no complicated interface to learn. Head over to Dropbox and download it to your computer. Then, of course, create a new account if you don’t already have one.

When you are finished installing, you’ll notice a couple of folders already there. There will be a public folder, as well as a photos folder. If you want someone to download a file, drag and drop it into your public folder. It will let you know when it’s finished uploading. Right click it, and copy the public link. Paste that into an Internet browser, and the download box will open automagically!

Dropbox is a free and easy way to transfer files. There are pricing options for larger Dropbox storage space should you need it. I have a large account, as this is how I transfer video files to Kat so that she can get them onto all of my channels for me. I have never had issues with it myself, and recommend the service to all of you.

I’m sure you’ve had to transfer files from one computer to another at some point. It can be a nightmare, at best. However, you may be interested in looking at the new ezSHARE cable by Vantec.

Transferring and copying files from one computer to another has never been so easy. It doesn’t matter if you’re using two Macs, two PCs, or one of each! Simply plug the ezSHARE in and you’re good to go. There’s nothing to install, no drivers to download. It’s totally plug and play! The ezSHARE Adapter seamlessly links two computers together using the specially designed USB cable. It will only take a few mouse clicks to transfer and share all of your files – from music to photos and documents.

This hasn’t been released to the market yet. But if you want the lowest price, keep your eye on TagJag. As soon as it’s on the market, we’ll get you the best prices to be found!

Most people will just use their home network to transfer files. But it’s even easier to use ezSHARE. Go USB!

Copying Brandon’s Copy

Via Brandon Paddock, a note on how Vista handles file transfers:

Now, when you copy a large number of files/folders – Vista will prompt you for any permissions, overwrite requests, etc – at the start of the operation, for everything in the copy list. It will also copy as much as it can and save any errors for the end of the operation, so that you don’t walk away and come back later to find that one little error has stopped your entire copy operation.

It also has replaced the “Yes / Yes To All / Noâ€? style options, with more descriptive options and a “Do this for allâ€? checkbox – thus ending cries of “Where is No To All!?!?!â€? (which secretly could be achieved in older version of Windows by holding down the SHIFT key while pressing No).

See, that’s freakin’ smart. Why aren’t they marketing THAT instead of THIS?

I think if this cross-platform software had a Web component to it, you could have a big winner on your hands. Software is great for desktops, but so much of my life is spent online anymore. I hate transfering files to people – especially when I’m ready to do it via IM. Plus, I hate having to tell someone else that they need to install more software, too. Not a day goes by when I don’t need to transfer some kind of large file to someone else – and email is always the easiest option.
