How to Save Money Online with Group Coupon Sites – Tippr

Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed

Saving money is always a good thing, and the new group coupon sites are all the rage right now. The one I’m using is Tippr. It won’t cost you anything to sign up, and you’ll get five dollars’ credit when you join. Using this site will help you save one hell of a lot of money.

I just paid $20.00 for four movie tickets which saved me about 64% off of the normal ticket cost. That’s just insane! Yes, I will get referral credit if you sign up (in the interest of full disclosure), but YOU do, as well. That’s the beauty of it.

If we have enough people interested, I may be able to create a group coupon site for savings on software and hardware. Shoot me an email and let me know your thoughts, and we’ll see what we can do!

Gnomedex Hotel Max Discount

A few days ago, we sent out a tweet revealing our partnership with Hotel Max as the official Gnomedex hotel. Today, we’re happy to announce that our friends at the gorgeous artsy hotel has come up with a fantastic discount offer for any attendees who wish to stay in the same hotel that the staff and speakers will be in!

Between now and August 8th, you can reserve your room(s) online and receive a nightly rate of only $144.00 – including WiFi. This is an approximate 22% discount from the normal rates for this time of year! You can choose how many nights you stay at this rate between (and inclusive of) the dates of August 18 – August 22.

If you choose to register by phone, the same discount will apply. When calling 1-866-986-8087, just request the Gnomedex 2010 Attendee Block.

I have to thank our friends at @Hotel_Max for extending this generosity towards our conference attendees. I also have to thank @hipsforhire for helping pull this together.

The entire Gnomedex team is looking forward to seeing all of you in just a few weeks!

A Leading Text Editor for Our Readers

A long-time supporter of Lockergnome has an award-winning software program. Eric Fookes is the creator and driving force behind the NoteTab program. This program has won numerous awards and it is recognized as one of the very best text and HTML editors available.

Usually, the programs suggested here have gone through some extensive scrutiny. The assessment process for Eric’s program goes far beyond the normal review process. There are ‘gnomies’ we know who use this program every day for all their text editing. And they have used NoteTab for years. One long-time NoteTab fan likes using the multiple text document feature. Think of it as a text editor with a tabbed browsing feature. People are truly loyal to this program and they would not be without their NoteTab.

You may wonder why you need a text editor. It is essential for organizing your work and, at the very elementary level, it saves you time (and your sanity). This probably has happened to you: on some email correspondence or blog comment, you spend time composing and putting down your thoughts in exactly the way that you want. You hit “send” or “post” and something (or nothing) happens. The browser tries to work… and then there is an error. All that work is gone – lost! If you use a text editor, all you would do is go back to the text editor and copy your work again. Then you can try to paste it in the email or blog a second time – without having to re-think and re-do the whole process again.

There are really too many features to this program to mention adequately. It really is one of the best text and HTLM editors available.

Eric is allowing our readers a special, time limited discount on his programs:

This offer expires on June 30, 2009. NoteTab can be used on all Windows versions, as well as OS X / Linux in conjunction with Wine.

If you are doing text work, this is a “must have” program. It simply makes your work easier and you will wonder how you managed without it. NoteTab is that good.

How to Charge Your iPhone

I would have liked to go to an event, but I had to stay home and charge my iPhone. Thankfully, there’s a new charger on the block, from the people at Griffin – the PowerBlock Reserve. I know you remember them, and the exceptional deals that they’ve given us recently. The response was so great that they’ve extended the offer! If you use coupon code pirillogo you’ll save 25% on your order!

I unboxed the PowerBlock Reserve prior to starting this video, and have already been using it. It’s pretty small, and there are two parts to it. Simply flip down the adapter and plug it into an electrical socket… and it charges the battery for your iPod or iPhone. Presto! You have juice. The idea is that you can take this with you on the go.

My suggestion is to place this next to the door that you use when leaving your house. Then you’ll always remember to grab it and take it with you. This way, your phone won’t be dead in the water if you’re gone all day. We know how important it is to have a working and fully charged battery.

It’s interesting… it doesn’t actually “click” into the iPhone. It has a magnet that snaps it in place, and it works very well. There’s a USB port on the bottom that allows you to attach the iPhone or iPod to it. Actually – you can charge ANY USB device with this!

If you do not yet have an external battery on your iPhone or iPod, what are you waiting for? You’ll save 25% on this excellent little device – and it works perfectly!

Discounts for OS X and Windows: Mariner Software

Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed

I love software! It’s so soft and squishy! Oh wait, maybe it’s not soft and squishy. But software does make our lives easier – helping us accomplish things that would be difficult to otherwise do. Software vendors regularly approach me, wanting me to push their titles to all of you. I turn them down quite often. For one thing, it’s usually never free software. Once I tell them no (due to cost), then they tend to splutter. I then ask them what kind of a coupon or deal they’re going to give all of you. The folks at Mariner have come up with one heck of a deal…

During the month of May, 2009 – you can save 25% on every software title from the great people at Mariner Software!! According to their staff, they have just about anything you can think of. There’s everything for both Mac and Windows users – from screenwriting software, to recipe management!

At Mariner, you’ll find Blogging software – Poetry software – Podcasting software – Recipe Management software – Word Processing software – and so much more. They even have software available for your iPhone!

Make sure that when you order, you use the coupon code: chrismay. This way, you’ll save 25% off of anything they offer – whether you buy one title or all of them!

One of my favorite apps from Mariner is the Poetry software. It’s honestly very cool, and available for both Mac and Windows. Desktop Poet is “fridge poetry” software for the desktop of your computer. Desktop Poet presents you with your choice of hundreds of word tiles on your desktop or “virtual fridge” area.

It’s very simple to use, and a lot of fun. There are tons of options to the software – you don’t only drag around the word tiles. Who knows? You may write the next great poem or Hallmark Card. Or… you may just find the best new way to de-stress yourself!

Make sure you check out what Mariner Software has to offer, and take advantage of this great offer they’re passing along to us. If this goes over well, who knows what they’ll do with us in the future!

FlashStats 2006 Coupon Code

FlashStats 2006 can be used for Web LOG file analysis. I’ve been dinking with Google Analytics (Urchin), Enquisite, Mint, and HitTail. The problem with hosted stat services is that they don’t track everything. Ken Spreitzer emailed me about FlashStats the other day, and I asked him if he had any kind of discount for my readers, and he responded in kind:

We would like to offer Lockergnome subscribers a 10% discount on the product through September 15, 2006. The program costs $199 or $349. They can claim the discount by entering Gnome-10 in the Offer Code field. Or they can click on this link to visit our site and set a cookie which will remember this code for them.

You can download a demo and give it a shot – FlashStats outputs ~60 different types of reports that you’re not likely to get through a hosted stats solution.
