http://live.pirillo.com/ – Mike from Iowa had a question about data synching: he uses Eudora e-mail for both of his computers and wants to know how he can synch his addreess book on both machines.

Assuming Eudora stores its address book in a file it should be easy. All you need is a way to make sure the files have the same content.

For Windows is a PowerToy called SyncToy, which will allow you to keep files synchronized:

SyncToy is a free PowerToy that provides an easy to use, highly customizable program that helps users to do the heavy lifting involved with the copying, moving, and synchronization of different directories. Most common operations can be performed with just a few clicks of the mouse, and additional customization is available without added complexity. SyncToy can manage multiple sets of folders at the same time; it can combine files from two folders in one case, and mimic renames and deletes in another. Unlike other applications, SyncToy actually keeps track of renames to files and will make sure those changes get carried over to the synchronized folder.

You could also use a universal service, such as Plaxo:

Plaxo, Inc. keeps people connected by solving the common and frustrating problem of out-of-date contact information. Founded in July 2001, Plaxo provides a free service that securely updates and maintains the information in your address book. Plaxo is the universal digital assistant; available to you wherever and whenever you need it to keep you organized, on top of your life and in touch with those you care about.

What do you use to sync your data?

Want to embed Synching Data video in your blog? Use this code:

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/MR0U8ihJVI0"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/MR0U8ihJVI0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object><br /><a href="http://live.pirillo.com/">http://live.pirillo.com/</a> / <a href="http://chris.pirillo.com/media/">http://chris.pirillo.com/media/</a>
