If you’re complaining that there’s no audio… that’s the whole point to this community challenge; YOU are being asked to provide the soundtrack / dialogue.

Yes, it’s your task to download this video, remix it with your own audio, then upload it as a video response to this one.

You don’t have to use the entire video, mind you – just what you might find interesting or fun to play with. And yes, you’re supposed to have fun with this challenge!

If you’re going for that “stormtrooper voice” sound, might I suggest processing your vocal audio through a high-pass filter and/or eliminate all bass, maximizing mid and treble.

Keep in mind that you cannot use music that isn’t yours, unless it is licensed as Creative Commons.

At What Age Should a Child Stop Trick-or-Treating?

Over on Lockergnome, Steven asked at what age kids should stop going out on Halloween to Trick-or-Treat. The answers are varied, with many feeling that once a kid hits their teens it is time to stop. I’m not so sure I agree with that, though.

Kids these days grow up entirely too fast. They are being pushed into becoming little adults at a much earlier age than ever before. What’s so wrong with letting a teenager dress up and have a good time. Why can’t they just act like a KID? Many adults refuse to hand out candy to anyone they deem to be “too old” to be out on Halloween night. To them I say: Pfffffffft.

Are You Gearing Up for the Holidays Already?

Holy heck! Is it already that time of year? Is Fall really officially here? How the hell did that happen? I was just browsing through questions on Lockergnome, and noticed a thread talking about Halloween Costumes. It’s ONLY September 23rd! Do we need to worry already? Great. I have no idea how to dress Wicket and Pixie this year. I need some suggestions, y’all.

It shocks me to find Christmas displays in the store earlier every year. I’m telling you… this year we’ll start seeing plastic Santas and gift wrap before Halloween ever gets here. It’s insanity! We as consumers are being pushed to spend, spend spend more and more – while fighting the fact that we don’t have as much to part with.

Do you start planning for the holidays this early, or are you one of those who tend to go a little crazy when you see witch costumes on shelves when we finish the 4th of July?

How To Dress Your Dog in a Costume

I’ve been known to put costumes on Wicket and Pixie for Halloween. In fact, a few of their outfits have been shown on blogs and websites all over the World. They love to dress up, honestly! They usually behave very well, and show off their gorgeous selves for everyone to see.

Today, I found what is likely going to be one of my new favorite websites, Cutest Doggie Costumes, courtesy of Life Magazine. Flip through the photo stream if you don’t believe me, as it’ll showcase various pooches in all of their costumed glory. I especially love the iPhone dog (for semi-obvious reasons).

Happy Halloween!

I love Halloween. It’s so much fun to see all the kids in their little costumes. Heck, it’s sometimes even fun to see the grownups in their costumes, as well! But most of all, I love to see Wicket and Pixie all dressed up for the day. I’ve even been known to dress up in recent years, myself.

What sort of traditions do you have for Halloween? What are you dressing up as this year – and are you actually going trick-or-treating? Let’s hear about your celebration, and be sure to link pictures for us!

Do you ever even stop to think about the history of Halloween? I knew that it was based in old Celtic traditions, and that October 31st is a very sacred holiday for many in the Pagan world – Samhain. There is much interesting lore to be read if you want to stretch your mind a little.

You can also learn new things every day by keeping an eye on our community! People post about anything and everything – even sometimes, the kitchen sink!

How to Use a Party Planning Checklist

There are several different ways to go about planning a party; the most effective way is to make a party planning checklist. Each checklist will be different for each party, and for each host or hostess. But the typical checklist will contain three main elements the invitations, the food, and the decorations. Now depending on the budget for the party and what type of party it is that you are looking to throw, there are many different ways to go about setting up a checklist with those three elements.

So the first element to a party planning checklist is to create and send out the invitations. However in order to do this first the date, time, and location must be decided on. Also, a guests list must be created. Now a guest list may vary depending on the budget of the party, and the type of party you are planning. Now that you have your guest list made, the date and time set, and the location planned, it is time to inform your guests that they are invited and that they need to RSVP by a certain date prior to the party.

Now it is time to figure out what food you are going to serve your guest. Some parties will require that you only serve finger foods, those types of parties would be a Halloween party, or a game of some sort, also some birthday parties would only require finger foods. However there are some parties that would require a meal to be served. Those parties could include weddings, birthday parties, and reunions. Once you decide whether you are serving finger foods or serving a whole meal it is now time to put your ideas for food on you party planning checklist. Food isn’t the only element to this portion of the checklist, you must also plan out the supplies that you will need, and the drinks that you will be serving.

The fun part of the party planning checklist is the decorations. If your budget allows for it, decorations can be the highlight of any party. Some parties have themes, for example Halloween parties. These types of parties can end up being the talk of the town if planned and decorated correctly. Make sure that if you are having a themed party that you notify your guest of this in the invitation otherwise the party could end up a bust.

Halloween costumes for 2009 fall in line with the common trends that occur every Halloween. If you want to find the perfect costume for 2009 then all you need to do is take a look at the common categories for Halloween costumes. Halloween costumes usually fall into four categories: movie themes or characters, celebrities and people in the news, odd ball ideas or classic costumes.

Movie Themes or Characters The year’s top movies often play into the year’s most popular Halloween costumes. For 2009 there are already some forerunners in this category. Disney and Pixar movies are a great option for whimsical characters. In 2009 the movie Up was rather popular so expect to see many costumes based on that movie.

For adults the movies bring a lot of fun since there are always some fun characters. For a fun look there are the characters from the Pink Panther 2 or you can go scary with someone from Friday the 13th. There is even a possibility of getting a little crazy with any of the characters from Alice in Wonderland which is a much talked about feature film for 2009.

You also cannot forget those people who used to be nobody’s before reality TV made them stars. How about a Jon or Kate costume? Maybe you can go as one of their “Plus 8″.

Odd Ball For the person that wants something out of the ordinary there are odd ball costumes. Some of these can be bought, but often they are homemade. No matter whether bought or homemade, odd ball Halloween costumes make a big statement. Some ideas are a bunch of grapes, a lego or a “cereal” killer.

Classic The last category is the classic Halloween costumes. These are the old standbys that you will always see on the street during trick or treat. This category of costumes include witches, ghosts and hobos. Classic costumes are easy to find and they are often available in many different styles, sometimes even with a twist in the style to break up the predictability of the character. For example, instead of a classic witch, there is a good witch who wears pink and frills instead of black.

Apparently, these Australian students have something called “Book Week” – and on Friday, there’s a dress-up parade.
