Ramen Noodles for Bachelors

Being a single guy living alone, I’m able to eat anything I want for dinner. I admit to eating some strange things now and then, but this stuff takes the cake.

Someone suggested I try Ramen Noodles. Okay, fine! I headed to the store and found out that you can buy like a case of these little packets of food stuffs for around a dollar. I only bought one, though, to see if I would even like it.

After opening the package and taking a bite, I couldn’t figure out why they tasted so plain. It says “Chicken Flavor” right on the front! Thank goodness the chat room pointed the way to the little packet of flavoring still inside the original package.

Dumping half of that in my mouth didn’t really make it taste like chicken, though. It just tasted like I licked a big block of salt. What’s up with that?

I don’t know what I’m doing wrong here, but I don’t think I’ll be crunching on these again any time soon.

How Do You Create a Recipe?

Dustin Woodard joined us for the Gnomedex conference this past August. During our Show and Tell period, he informed us that he was previously an employee of AllRecipes. Even though he’s no longer with that company, there is still one very cool feature on the site that he tends to use quite often.

Let’s say you only have a few ingredients on hand, but can’t think of anything to cook. Plug those items you do have into the website, and it will return a list of recipes that you could use them for! Never get stuck not knowing what to cook again. Let the Ingredient Search guide you!

Being a bachelor, I don’t always cook a full meal for myself. Likewise, I don’t always buy a ton of ingredients when I shop. Perhaps I should take a look at this site myself, and come up with some new ideas!

Being the gadget-lover that I am, I have been on the cookout for the Geekiest rice cooker out there! I finally found it, and I love it! It’s the Zojirushi Micom 3-Cup Rice Cooker and Warmer. I bought it in the stainless steel finish, to match the other appliances in my kitchen. It’s easy to use, Geeky enough to make me happy, and makes delicious rice!

There are several different ways I can cook my rice, with just the touch of a button. I can choose to change the consistency from soft to medium to hard! I can even change up the type of rice I cook: white, sushi, porridge, brown, and quick cooking! There’s a built-in timer if I want to watch the minutes go by, and it comes with a rice spatula and measuring cup. A rice spatula what?? I’ve never even heard of one, but apparently I need it!

I love to eat rice, flavored in many different ways. This handy new Geeky cooker makes it ten times easier on me to make sure that I cook it to perfection.
