Is Twezr the Only iPhone Social App You Need?

There’s a new kid in town, and your iPhone is never going to be the same. This is a good thing, according to those in the know. Twezr calls itself a “personal organizer – the best way to stay in sync with your close friends and co-workers”. Let’s go on record right now as saying this is absolutely a game changer.

After launching the app for the first time, you’ll be asked to sign up which only takes a few seconds. After you’re in, you need to connect Twezr to the services you use, such as email, Twitter and Facebook. Sadly, those are the only two social networks available at this point in time, but you CAN add multiple Twitter accounts. The email options include Windows Exchange (!!), Hotmail, Gmail and AOL.

There are some very neat touches to Twezr. For example, if you have multiple accounts and visit a particular contact, it will show you messages (twitter and Facebook) and @replies on twitter from across all the accounts you may have used to contact that person. What’s more, Twezr keeps the people you contact most close at hand assuming the people you care about are the people your messaging regularly.

What’s the big deal about Twezr? It not only aggregates all of your contacts from all of your places into one neat little list, it also shows you when (and where!) each of those people have sent you a message of some type. Did Joe send you an email? Twezr will tell you… and show you the Twitter DM he sent immediately after to make sure you saw that email!

Why use separate apps for various email addresses, Twitter and Facebook? Throw them all together in one very cool looking and simple-to-use interface with Twezr.

How to Take Control of Your Contacts

This is a guest post written by Matt Gamboa.

If you’ve been to a networking event or Japanese meeting, you’ll understand that the business card is a very important aspect in telling people who are and how to get in touch with you. You also would know then, that the 2 x 3.5 inch piece of fancy paper that you receive multiple times over, can take of a lot of space in your pocket!

Fortunately, Gist is working to build a service that will save the trees and your pocket space by storing contact information from your professional network in the cloud. By pulling all your contact data from different sources together, Gist’s services help you manage and organize who you know in a beautiful, informative way.

Contacts from your address books, social networks, and inboxes are combined and stored in your Gist account. Through the use of apps and plugins, your database can be accessed just about anywhere. Gist has been hard at work developing these plugins and already include:

Outlook

Lotus Notes

Gmail

Salesforce

iPhone

Android

Once you have your contacts built, additional services are then provided to keep you up to date with the latest happenings of your network. Twitter updates, blogs posts, Facebook news, and any other networks your contacts are connected to are all delivered to you when you log in. Making it simple to keep track of what that CTO had for lunch, or where that CEO you met yesterday is currently shopping. Gist wants to give you an open view of what all your contacts are up to and what news there might be about them.

As founder T.A. McCann says on his profile, “Gist brings your contacts into one place to give you the only full view of your network making it easy to find anyone, anytime.”

http://live.pirillo.com/ – I bet you’ve seen those emails. “Join Plaxo today! It’s free!” or even from your friends “Join me at Plaxo!”. Yeah. I used to delete those, and never even checked it out. Low and behold once I did try it tonight… I was seriously impressed. Excellent work, Plaxo!

Plaxo is ingenious! You can sign up for free at preview.plaxo.com. Plaxo will take all of your contacts from everywhere… Outlook, MSN, Yahoo, AIM, Mac, Google… and centralize them in one location!!! It’s about time! I mean, seriously. I have too many contacts, in too many places. Yes, many of them are the same people, just in different places. But imagine… every time one of them changes a phone number or email address, I have to log in to all those various places and make the change to my contact info. Now, all I have to do is make the change in one place, and Plaxo updates it everywhere!

Plaxo does the same thing with all your calendars. It will synchronize them so that all the information and appointments are in one central location. This can make things much easier on you, and make it less likely for you to double-book something.

There is a Plaxo Premium, as well. For $50.00, you can get the added features of a duplicate contact remover, unlimited Premium eCards, assisted data recovery, VIP support and mobile access to your contacts and calendar. I’m not convinced that those added incentives are worth the $50.00 at this point, but the free version for me definitely is.

What other ways do all of you recommend for sharing or transferring files? Be sure to leave me a comment, or send me an email to chris@pirillo.com.
