Canon Printer Software Problems

A fellow geek purchased a Canon printer recently and, much to his dismay, discovered that it was impossible to operate without first installing the required software. This is one of the reasons I’ve been extremely gunshy about recommending Canon’s consumer products as of late (I’ve about had it with their PowerShot digital camera series, too). He wondered if I had the same problem with a specific HP printer previously reviewed…

I’ve been using a Canon GL2 connected to a Mac Mini to broadcast my live stream. It’s been tapped out at about 23 frames per second. Of course, it taps out even more because of all the extra elements I bring into it. I wasn’t looking to use a different camera. However, I’m using one now. The Canon Vixia HV30 was an excellent deal, so I had to give it a try.

Canon PowerShot TX1

I’ve already posted a small review of my new digital camera – recorded last night, hours after it arrived on my doorstep. It’s definitely not perfect, but I’m learning to appreciate its quirks as much as its features. The TX1 is small enough to fit into my pocket, has a swivel screen for angle flexibility, and produces HD video results that are astounding (all things considered).

Canon PowerShot SD800 IS

I became a Canon PowerShot fan a few years ago – having fallen in love with the G2 and its feature set / form factor. My first pocket camera (ever) was an SD550, though I sold it and moved to the SD700 IS when it became available. I use the SD700 IS way more than I do my S2 IS – though I’m getting ready to sell both of ‘em. Why? The Canon PowerShot SD800 IS is coming:
