Subject: coupon for HV40?

Hi Chris I watched your show on the HV40 I want to buy one and I was taking you up on your offer to give out a code. Do you have one? I plan on buying at Buydig or wherever the code might work..

Thanks, GlowofElectrum

Got a bunch of deal requests for the HV40. Best deal at a reputable store (i.e. no reputation for bait & switch or gray market sales) is at B&H Photo.

Tips for Buying a Camcorder

What recording format is best for you? The type of recording you choose depends on how much money you can safely spend for memory devices, as well as how long of a recording time you’ll need.

Consider the weight and size. While you’re actually in the store, pick up and hold different ones to make sure they fit in your hand and you can easily hold them. Make sure all of the buttons and levers are positioned where you can reach them easily, without having to stop recording to look for them.

Keep lights in mind! You will use your camcorder inside a lot of the time. You can take videos without much light, but remember that your quality isn’t going to be as good. There are several camcorders that work well with low lighting conditions. Look for one of these if you know you’ll shoot indoors a lot.

Features play a huge part. If you’re a beginner, make sure your device has an “auto” setting. You want to be able to turn it on, click the record button, and go. Once you become more comfortable with your camcorder, you can begin to play around with different settings.

What type of storage format does it require? As I mentioned in the first point, the memory will play a large part in your decision. There are five different types of memory storage devices for camcorders:

MiniDV

DVD Disc

hard drive or flash-based

Digital8

MicroMV

You will need to choose the one that fits your needs, budget and lifestyle.
