About a year ago, I bought myself a LEGO Death Star. I never have put it together, since I know it’s going to be a huge undertaking for any one person alone. I decided to invite a few friends over to help me build it for my birthday this year!

It’s a 3800-piece Special Edition kit, and I never even opened the box. I did do the unboxing for you all on the camera, so I’m sure you’ll want to check that out.

Mona is one of the friends helping me with this build, and was also the one who was holding the camera for this particular video. She doesn’t really care so much about the Death Star. She’s interested in the Minifigs. She has this odd obsession with Chewie, and her reaction to looking at the Minifigs on the box was a hearty: OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG (you get the drift). They’re cute, I suppose. But I’m a guy. I’m into the Death Star itself – and the Darth Vader Minifig, of course.

I originally uploaded this video to YouTube the day before my birthday, in the hopes that everyone would join us live to watch us working on building the Death Star. We had well over 1000 people watching at several times throughout the day, and that was great!

My Very Own iPhone

I’m always grateful for gifts, but I do have a few guidelines for family members who ASK ME WHAT I WOULD RATHER HAVE. I do have a running list of stuff I’d like to have but would never actually purchase for myself – and I also have a list of things that I would much rather purchase for myself:

• Socks
• Shoes
• Shirts
• Pants
• CDs / DVDs
• Software
• Food
• Books

There are also things I never would have expected to receive from anybody in a million years…

In other words: I was iPwnd by my own wife.

I Got My Birthday Present Early

Just like I wrote earlier… it’s my birthday. Birthdays are fun, aren’t they? On my fifth birthday, I got to fly around in a Cessna plane above the city of Des Moines, IA (thinking I wanted to become a pilot). On my sixth birthday, my parents hired a magician (thinking I wanted to become a prestidigitator). On my seventh birthday, I don’t remember much because someone spiked the fruit punch (just kidding, but wouldn’t that make a wonderful story for the grandkids). On my eighth birthday, I stopped keeping track of my birthdays as I was quickly becoming… an “old man.â€Â? Remember the days when “21″ was old? Neither do I – and they say that memory is the first thing to go. The only thing I want this year is a bigger chest.
