Liz Money was kind enough to submit a video for me to add to our beauty tips and tricks collection. Granted, this particular video isn’t geared towards the guys. But hey! There are a heck of a lot of girl Geeks, as well! All you dudes, just chill and skip this one. Ladies – pay attention and learn how to get those sexy, smokey eyes.

Apparently you need several different fluff brushes in order to put all of this goop on! Make sure you have angled ones, and many different sizes. The particular palette she’s using has the colors already laid out for you. It tells you what color goes where on your eyes!! I guess they also are good for all skin tones, and day or night wear.

First you’ll add your primer (eyeshadow base). This will make your lid sticky enough to make the makeup last longer. Make sure you pat it on, and let it dry fully. Start with your lightest color, and sweep from the lashline to just under the brow using the large fluffy brush.

Next comes the medium color, which is the lid color. Use the smallest brush, or an angled one. Press it into the palette to get a maximum amount of pigment on the brush. Start at the lashline, and trace around your lid.

The challenging part is doing the crease… with the darkest color. Using a round brush, press it into the color again to get the right amount of pigment. It goes right where your lid creases. This creates depth, and shadowing. The trick with the smokey eyes is to blend a ton, so you don’t look stripey.

In order to line the upper lid, you’ll need to take the sharply angled brush and dip it in the darkest color. Start at the inside corner, and carefully trace across your lid, right at the lashline. Make sure you keep that eyelid pulled taut!

If you want to be more dramatic, you can line your lower lashline as well. You’re going to line the inside rim of your lower lashline. It sounds scary, but apparently it’s not! It looks crazy Liz – you’re right about that! But you’re right again when you say it makes your eyes pop.

So there you have it! Now when you’re wanting to look especially gorgeous for us Geeky dudes, you know what to do! Thanks again, Liz!

Well, here we are again with another installment from the Geek Eye for the Sloppy Guy! It’s about time us guys had a chance in the beauty spotlight, don’t you think? We need to stand up and show that we care how we look, just as much as the next guy does – well, as much as the girls do anyway! Sit back and pay attention… you might even want to take notes.

Take a look at your fingernails right now. Do you see too much white there on the edge? Then you’ve let them grow far past their prime. Clip ‘em! If you don’t have fingernail clippers, buy them. Seriously, it’s not that expensive and it won’t break the bank if you do. If you have some but haven’t used them in a few years – sterilize those puppies first.

While guys don’t need to be all frou-frou and have manicures at a salon, we should still care about how our fingernails look. Having ragged and dirty nails just shows that you don’t care about yourself, and will make chicks not want to care much about you! Having nails like that doesn’t make you more “manly”. It just makes you seem dirty and lazy.

Here’s a tip to remember: “If you see any white, get it out of sight!”. The second tip would be to stop biting at your nails. It also makes you look like you’re in grade school again. It’s truly disgusting, when you consider what could be under your nails. Admit it – you pick things on your body. You’re a GUY after all. And then you bite your nails… yeah. Whatever you picked or scratched just ended up in your mouth. HELLO! That’s just nasty and wrong.

All you have to do is grab a pair of nail clippers. Trim those nails down, and make yourself look like a million bucks.

Yes, I went there. What are you going to do about it? NOTHING, that’s what! You’re going to pay attention, because you are a guy with a unibrow, or you know one who has one! It’s a fact of life, guys. We have to deal with things like nose hairs, unibrows, and facial hair that grows faster than our brains can contemplate. I decided it’s high time us men do something about these things… and I decided I’m just the Geek to help you with that! Stay tuned for my entire series of “beauty tips” for dudes!

Here we go with the second in my series of beauty tips for guys! This one deals with shaving your face. I had stubble, and needed to deal with it. I usually go a few days between shaving. I’m comfortable that way, since my skin is pretty sensitive. Some women prefer a bit of stubble – and some don’t. Check with your woman to see what she prefers!

I don’t recommend using a disposable razor if you live with a woman! No matter what you say or do, they will use it to shave their legs or whatever else they feel like shaving. Then when you try to use it again – yep, you guessed it! Your razor will be dull and useless. In light of that, there’s really only one thing you can do – use an electric razor. I’ve had mine for awhile now, and I really like it. I’ve tried other brands, and I just wasn’t happy with them. I like the Braun, and stick with their series whenever I need to buy a new one.

Before shaving, consider taking a shower. Doing so will loosen up the hairs in their follicles, due to the steam. Rub your hands or washrag across your face while in the shower. It will loosen up the hairs, and make them even easier to remove. Wash your face while in there, to soften the hairs. Don’t use bar soap to do this! Apparently, they make separate soapy stuff just for faces. I KNOW! Don’t yell at me – I don’t make the rules. Just buy the stuff and use it. Your woman will thank you!

Now… you’re out of the shower, and you’re ready to shave. Turn the razor on before you apply it to your face. Otherwise, you’re going to tear up your face. I tend to get rid of the “soul patch” first… that’s the area directly in the middle of your chin. Sometimes, I quit there. Other times, I do the area where a moustache would go.

Here’s a bonus tip: Don’t use your razor for nose hair or eyebrows. Use a trimmer or tweezers for those, or you’re gonna regret it BIG TIME.

Don’t stop with just the lip area. Clean and shave your whole face with an electric razor. Use whatever brand you are most comfortable with. Don’t just do the job half-arsed, either. You’ll look like a dork, and you’re a GEEK. You’re not a dork. Take your time, give yourself a good shave. You’ll thank yourself when you walk out of the house.

Yes, this was really me. And yes, I really did make some “beauty” videos! I’m sick of seeing all the sexy women on YouTube taking over the Guru spots with their beauty tips. Seriously – what about us guys? I decided to do some tips of my own.

Now, if you’re a guy and you’re sporting a unibrow – stop it! You’re ruining it for the rest of us. You know exactly what I’m talking about, too. You have that ONE eyebrow thing going on – they meet in the middle, so to speak. That’s just not right, and you really need to take care of that problem.

It’s simple to solve this little problem. You shouldn’t use any type of flame to divide your eyebrow, or you’ll end up with none at all! I’d also not recommend duct tape – it will hurt like hell. You have to divide your unibrow into two separate eyebrows. Much like you, I have thick eyebrows. It’s just something us guys have to live with.

My recommendation is to spend a few bucks on a good pair of tweezers. Don’t use the really cheap ones, or you’ll seriously regret it. Grab yourself a handheld mirror in one hand, and the tweezers in the other hand. Make sure you use the tweezers in your “dominate” hand, or you’ll regret that.

Hold up the tweezers to where the unibrow is, right in the middle. Grab ahold of a hair with those tweezers, and yank that sucker out! No, it doesn’t feel so good. But isn’t it going to be worth it when the chicks suddenly start eyeing you? It doesn’t really matter what you do with the hairs. Throw them down the sink, or in the garbage – whatever floats your boat!

There’s not a female that is attracted to a unibrow. If you’re a guy, grab some tweezers and get the job done. Send me your other guy tips and tricks to keep yourself looking your best!

My Geekshake Brings All the Beauties to the Yard

I got this MySpace message a few weeks ago from Jonathan:

I just saw your YouTube video from last year talking about BATG. It’s funny because I was on the 5th season of the show. Don’t know why you’d turn down the show just because you’re married. You know it’s not a dating show, right? On my season one of the guys and at least two of the girls were in relationships when they went on the show. It’s weird that casting contacted you about being on the show since you were already somewhat famous. Some of the beauties have had some fame before doing the show but none of the geeks did.

Yeah, I was contacted twice to be on ‘Beauty and the Geek.’ Each time, Ponzi gave me the look (which meant I was explicitly forbidden to do anything with any other Beauty). Jonathan continued:

By the way I used to watch you on TechTV. What exactly caused your departure? I visited the TechTV studios back in 2002 after you had left and an intern said they had you hidden in a closet. LOL! Couldn’t get a real answer.

They wanted more beauty (fluff), less geek. ‘Nuff said.

Anyway… Jonathan wrote me back today, with a small request I was more than happy to pass along to fellow geeks:

I know this may be a lot to ask but could you get your fans to help out a fellow geek? As you know I was on season 5 but that season started out with an ill-conceived format change that was Beauty vs the Geek instead of the normal Beauty and the Geek format which meant the geeks as a team competed against the beauties. It was mean-spirited and culminated with me being eliminated by not getting picked by a beauty when they reverted to the normal format. Not getting picked is a geek’s worst nightmare of course and a major hit to your self-esteem and that also meant that myself and the guy eliminated before me are the only two geeks in the history of the show to not get partners. Season 6 has been announced so I’m trying to get brought back so I can get the full experience. There are three ways people can help me out in my quest to get back on the show.

They can vote for me daily at RealityWanted. I have a petition to bring me back, too. People can also email, write, or call 3Ball Productions (the company behind Beauty and the Geek) and demand they bring me back for season 6.

Well, here’s to hoping you make it back – or that 3Ball lets me keep my two balls by letting Ponzi and me star in Season 7 or 8 (we’ll even settle for 9).

I don’t watch much TV, but I occasionally get drawn into a Reality series. This is very true of Beauty and the Geek. I can’t help it. I’m a Geek! Did you know that they wanted me to appear on the show… twice?

A couple of years ago, I got a phone call from someone who worked for the show, asking me if I’d like to appear as a contestant. Apparently, the person had seen some of the videos I had done, and thought I’d be good on the show. I thanked them, but let them know I was indeed married. It was a cool offer, though!

Fast forward to now. I received an email from a Producer of the show, saying he had seen my videos on YouTube, and again thought I’d be a great candidate for the show! It’s a different person than before, and a couple of years later. I was flattered, but couldn’t help laughing. I had to explain that I am now married to Ponzi, who is the epitome of “hot wife”. I live Beauty and the Geek on a daily basis, and even stream it live. The Producer laughed as well, then asked if I know of anyone else who may be interested in auditioning…

Hmmmmm the light bulb inside my brain went off! What about all of you out there? Have you considered auditioning? Here are the basic requirements for auditioning and/or being on the show:

You must be at least 21 years of age (I know I said 18 in the video, as I was writing this up, I found the correct information on their site)
You must be a US Citizen or permanent resident
You must not be a candidate for public office and must agree not to become one until at least one (1) year after the initial broadcast of the Program.
Neither you nor any member of your immediate family or anyone living in your household may be or may have been within the past two (2) years an employee, officer, director or agent of any show producers, networks that may air the program, sponsors of the program, or involved in show prodcution in any way.
You will need to be available to the production for approximately four weeks or possibly longer, and you must be willing to reside in a location to be designated by Producers.
If selected as a semi-finalist, you must be willing to submit medical information to the production and submit to a medical examination, psychological examination, and background checks.
