Six Steps to Protecting Your Baby From Cold Weather

• Find out how cold it is outside. Don’t just stick your hand out the door for a few seconds. Step outside for a minute to get a true sense of the temperature. If you’re cold, your baby will be cold too.
• Choose the clothes. Layering is key. If temperatures are pretty mild, then dress your baby in a one-piece undershirt, long-sleeved shirt, long pants, and a light jacket. If the weather is chillier, add a sweatshirt over the shirt and a more insulated jacket or coat.
• Consider using a snowsuit. If temperatures fall below freezing, bundle your baby from head to toe in a warm snowsuit. These are well insulated and will protect him from the rain, wind, and snow.
• Don’t forget to cover her head. Heat escapes quickly from the scalp, so make sure your baby wears a hat. If she keeps pulling it off, purchase one with velcro straps or ties to keep it securely in place.
• Protect your baby’s hands and feet by using mittens, socks and shoes. These tiny parts of the body get cold quickly, so don’t leave the house without covering his hands and feet.
• Check your baby for overheating. Touch her forehead periodically. If it feels warm and/or damp, remove a layer of clothing. You want her to stay warm, but you don’t want her to get too hot.

Make an effort to talk about those things, and to understand them. Who knows? You may end up finding new interests for yourself, as well.
• Learn how to write. Being online is a whole new ball game. The first impression you give… and likely the only impression for awhile… is through your writing style. If you are using l33t speak, or even chat speak, you could turn off a very intelligent woman very quickly. How you write will convey the type of person you are. Take the time to check your grammar and spelling. Take the time to let who you are show through.
• Don’t be a drooling Fanboi. If a woman is worth having, she’s already getting emails and IM’s telling her how wonderful and perfect she is. She may hear over and over she’s “beautiful” and “sweet”. Don’t trip over your own tongue. Be realistic. Women can see through nonsense compliments and drivel. They want something that is real, and solid.
