Bring Art to Life on the iPad with Art in Motion

Art in Motion is a totally new type of art app. It’s based on an idea that art should evolve WITH technology. Since the iPad is the best multi-touch device out there right now, the app creators realized that it was the perfect platform for them to unleash this very awesome way for you to make something stunning. Sure, painting a picture can be wonderful. But, it doesn’t take advantage of these advancements in technology.

How IS this app different than standard art? With Art in Motion, you will be creating an entire scene, instead of just a painting or picture. Instead of drawing in scenery such as trees or flowers, you’ll customize and add orbs to your work in progress. Instead of just looking at a drawing, you’ll watch your orbs come alive. Unlike a painting, there is actual motion in what you create with Art in Motion. Heck, you can even interact with your scene. In a normal painting, the colors don’t (or shouldn’t, at least) change. With your Art in Motion creation, the colors fade, flow and change constantly.

The app has a powerful physics engine with 20 different bundled scenes to play with and study, helping you to learn how to create your own. There’s a highly-intuitive interface, full multi-touch support and very clear documentation.

If you enjoy creating things, this app may be the one you never knew you had to have. It’s an easy – and awesome – way to make something truly outstanding of your very own.

The Granimator iPad app is a freeform iPad & iPhone wallpaper creator. Begin by choosing one of the pre-designed templates created by artists from around the world. Each artist pack includes different sounds, tools, shapes and backgrounds with it.

Draw, tap, pinch, drag and interact with the various graphical elements to create art and soundscapes. When you’re satisfied with what you’ve created, share it by sending to your iPhone. You can also choose to share with your friends on Twitter, Flickr, Facebook or Granimator’s website.

Granimator is a LOT of fun – likely too much fun. It’s causes someone like me who has ADD to keep creating new things… over and over and over and over and over.

Adobe Has Ideas

I’m going to go on the record and say that 95% of the apps available for the iPad are going to be drawing-related in some way. I’ve been inundated with requests to review these types of apps. One of the best ones that’s floated across my screen, though, is Adobe Ideas. It’s a free app, and is available right now in iTunes.

Adobe Ideas lets you sketch designs anywhere you happen to be. Forget carrying around a pad and pencil. You can sketch right on your iPad. You can also capture and store color themes while browsing through the photos on your phone.

Ideas is an ultra-simple doodling app, which lets you use your finger as a pencil to draw and color. This is perfect for kids who are bored on a long car trip even. Hand them the iPad and have them draw interesting things they see.

The app lets me change the size or opacity of the brush. There’s also a full palette of colors. As you draw, the app will smooth out rough spots left behind by your fingers as you draw.

This is a great little app that I think you’ll have hours of fun with. It will work well for people who like to dabble and play and those who are serious about their art.
