http://live.pirillo.com/ – Matt is a Halo2 fanatic. He is currently running a 32-bit version of Windows Vista. He’s wondering if the game will run better if he installs the 64-bit version.

Well Matt, it depends on whether the game itself is coded to run in 64-bit systems. If it was designed to run on a 32-bit system, it may not work at all. Since your processor is an AMD 64-bit, you definitely can install the 64-bit version of Windows Vista. However, before you totally reformat and upgrade, I recommend setting up a partition on your hard drive. Install the 64-bit version there, and try running the game on it. A few of our chatters say it will indeed work. By running it on a partition, you can test for yourself what it will do on your setup.

64-bit processors can addresses data in larger chunks than 32-bit processors, which means faster overall processing. They also have the capability to address more RAM than 32-bit processors.

32-bit programs, when run on 64-bit machines, can actually run faster than on their 32-bit counterparts, and 64-bit programs Of course all of this technical advancement comes at a cost: 64-bit processors generally cost more than their 32-bit counterparts.
