Kirsten Dunst and Toby McGuire had the chemistry going in Spiderman. I'm stoked for it, and I even grabbed the Spiderman 2 blog templates that Sony was offering. Niiice.

If you want a good comic book fare, watch the Blade movies. I'm awaiting eagerly for Hellboy. The first couple of Batman movies weren't bad either.

I almost killed myself for watching the horrendous LXG in the theatre. The trailer made the movie appealing, but having to sit through the mish-mash flow of the story gave me a tremendous headache. A few years ago, they made a Punisher movie with Dolph Lundgrem in it. That was a lame movie imho. As for the other movies you talked about, I agree.
Except for Superman. I think Superman 1 and 2 were the best, the others were lame. Spiderman was ok, X2 I haven't seen, but from what I have seen of the preivews on tv, it looks ok.
The Hulk looks a little digitally dressed up to me. Do you think Stan Lee got a walk in on that film?Or do you think he decided to wait for Spiderman 2? As for your lockergnome stuff, keep it up chris, love your newsletters.

The Punisher might be fun, but I'm waiting for Man-Thing in the Fall! I think the FF movie will be rushed through production. Batman:Intimidation might turn out ok.
As for older flicks, You can't go wrong with the first 2 Supermans, Spiderman, both X-Mens, and David Hasselhoff as Nick Fury rocks.
Though I do have to say, that as an independent filmmaker(2 films coming out this fall to DVD) I urge you to support your local, independently owned video store inlieu of the major chains.

Well, I agree that X2 was a very very good movie which was far better than a lot of other movies but for me I just didn't get the “emotional connection” with the characters that I did with the Hulk. This is why to me the Batman movie series are “entertaining” but they aren't “great” because they don't have any “depth” to them. If they had focused more on Batman's dark side / torment, similar to the Dark Knight comic series, then I probably would have enjoyed it more.

first time poster, long time lurker here…
i have to say, hulk was the worst of all the 3 (yes, yes, the effects were cool). they had nick nolte as a mad man with hulk-dogs for hulk-sakes. frankly, i found it barely watchable – horrendous pacing, terrible character development and really, did you actually end up care about the hulk at all?
that said, amazing cameo by stan lee and lou f early in the film.

I'll have to say I sided with many of the critics who found Hulk to be a little blah. Spiderman was very well done although with the passing of time I think its easy to get a little jaded regarding the effects. LXG had a lot going for it but maybe too much to fit in one movie (and I'm sorry but the submarine in the canals of Venice still turns me off).
With the advancements in CGI I think we're just about ready for . . . THE FANTASTIC FOUR! Should be enough stuff there for about 10 movies: Krulls, alternate dimensions, the list goes on.
Also, switching from comic books to Sci-Fi, has anybody heard any news about Rama? I heard they were working on the movie and I think there was (is?) a web site. That movie, done well, could be great!

Oy! Spider-Man was FANTASTIC! Both X-Men and X2 rocked just as hard. Daredevil was pretty weak. Hulk was better that DD, but still didn't even compare to Spider-Man or the X-movies. LXG was 'ok'. I have high hopes for Punisher.
Of course, I'm also a comic book fan, so I have a bit of a different take on these things, I suppose…

Felt the same way about all the movies you listed. Hulk was probably the first comic book movie that I saw in a long time that I actually “got into”, as I think they handled the character's torment/anguish half decently well. I got my fingers crossed for Punisher that they handle it just as well.
LXG was definitely visually appealing but it jumped around a lot and didn't make sense at times. For example, the woman, who is a vampire, in one scene is shown walking around in the sunlight. Uh, what up wit dat? Still definitely worth a rental though, especially if you throw in another movie alongside it.
