Some Dim Sum
Shrimp, pork, bread, rice… Dim Sum! I had my first dim sum experience the other week. To “sum” it up, I went back for more this afternoon. You really don't need a lot to fill you up, though. My tummy was a little uneasy on our way home, but I'm feeling much better now. The dim sum is still in my system, and will likely remain there until it decides to leave. It's easy to stuff yourself silly at a good dim sum restaurant – especially when they wheel a new cart around every five seconds. “What's that have in it?” More shrimp, more pork, more breadding. I can't see myself eating dim sum every week, but it's great when you've got a good-sized group of hungry friends. Here's what Ponzi said about it last time:
Chris and I had lunch with my Aunt Punon and Uncle Chai. Top Gun was the name of the restaurant, Dim Sum is the name of their game. Wow, it was wonderful – it was in Bellevue, WA near the Factoria square area. Not a fancy place at all but the food was exceptional. If you've never had dim sum let me describe it. It's kind of like lots of little plates of food to sample. A waitress rolls a cart from table to table and each cart has several items – so there are constantly carts coming by your table from the kitchen. Usually each plate has a serving of 3-4 pieces-which is perfect for two couples to sample. Here are a few of the items we had.
Steamed shrimp dumplings, b.b.q pork stuffed “bisquits, almond shrimp, clams with onion and green pepper, taro root and pork dumplings. Chinese broccoli came around on cart of exclusively veggies. My only suggestion is to stay away from the deep fried stuff – per my Aunt. The steamed items were awesome. If you can't eat all of it you may,of course, take it home for later. Yum, yum – dim sum!
Someone told us there's a good dim sum place down the street from where we live (in the International District, if not in the local Chinatown).
