Green Christmas Gift Idea #2 - Solar Radio

Solar Radio only $50 at Gaiam

Another great Christmas Gift for campers and hikers. I don’t really fall into either of those categories, but I have one of these in the house for whenever we have a power outage, which is a pretty common occurence in the Pacific Northwest. This radio can be charged via a built-in solar panel, hand crank or (if you’ve got power) AC adapter, which makes it extremely versatile. Only 30 seconds of cranking powers the internal NiMH battery for 35 minutes of AM and FM broadcasts and it runs 25 hours on a full charge. A couple other nice features are the LED charge indicator, an LED flashlight and an earphone socket.

You can save even more money by using these coupons from Gaiam:

I seriously know someone who would LOVE this for Christmas. They’re greener than a lime, and love to hike. Thanks for the idea, Chris. =D
