E-Mail:

SoBigger Aftermath

So, I just logged into my Postini account and deleted another 400 virus-laden messages. This, of course, is after deleting 600 at 1PM this afternoon - and 500 at 9AM. I've had thousands of false error reports to contend with, too. Here's what concerns me most about this situation: having my address added to newsletters and discussion lists without confirmation. This isn't just a problem for Windows users anymore. I'm starting to feel like George Jetson on a treadmill. It makes me wanna staple bagels to my face… then let out a big belch on the radio.

That's a mighty belch Chris! Almost puts mine to shame :)

this is weird–i keep reading about these worms and the onslaught of emails, but i ain't getting any. not that i'm complaining, but i wish i knew why.

Yes, I have also gotten them. I am ready to throw my e-mail out the window. Just think really how many papers letters that would be and how much it would cost. This virus from what my someone told me that it could spoof addresses.
That is a very loud belch Chris.
Nearly scared me when i hit play lol

that's a lota junk.

funny, I haven't been hit at all - neither has any of my family…for once they listen to the geek…next, get them off Outhouse express and on to thunderbird…then Mozilla…then Linux..muah

I've deleted hundreds of virus infected messages too… hand me the staple gun and bagels, too!

Me knows about that problem too
:(

Dude… what is this, a bitchlog? Normally funny, geeky Pirillo is having a bad tech week. And he's bringing us all down with him.

Imagine what would be if *they* had combined the SobigF with the RPC exploit…

“It's George Jetson, annnnnnd June, his wife!” … who will be arriving here sooner than we thought! “Staying in Green River Utah tonight. ******* yuck. Tomorrow is Vegas BABY! Then onto LA Sunday morning in time for afternoon sushi and chardonnay. Nebraska is the bullshit state. Everything smells of cowshit and there are flies EVERYWHERE. Colorado was stressful but pretty and Utah is desolate as all hell but damn pretty sunsets. Slappin once said that all photos taken from a moving car or train are worthless and I'm inclined to agree. I'll post a few quick pics in a minute while my mail is downloading 1700 emails takes a bit :-/”

Also not complaining, but I haven't gotten any of these things either *knocks on every wooden surface in sight*

The auto-responder problem has an asymmetrical distribution… it targets addresses which are in more Outlook Address Books and Explorer internet caches.
I've seen the rate of traffic continue through the weekend. Now it's up to over 80% autoresponders. These are difficult to filter serverside because they come from various addresses and take various forms.
Reporters and others who have well-known addresses are disproportionately affected by this exploit. Microsoft might therefore find it beneficial to invest in fixing, not just their software, but their software's effect on the net…?

I feel for you man…
