Sleeper Article
“They found that those who slept eight hours a night were 12 percent more likely to die within six years than those who got 6½ to 7½ hours of sleep. The increased risk was more than 15 percent for those who reported getting more than 8½ hours or less than about 4 hours nightly. The study could not explain the causes or reasons for this association.”
Holy shit. I'm going to live forever. It's not like I'm an insomniac or anything, just that I'd rather do other things. Sleep is great, but it's not incredibly productive. In other words: it may help the body, but it doesn't help the housework. As I look around my desk, I see I'm surrounded by clutter. Don't tell Gretchen, but I think I'm going to leave it on the floor until tomorrow. My eyes are starting to get heavy. Although, according to this study's logic, I could be adding weeks to my life if I stay awake for another five minutes. Did you know that if your hand is bigger than your face, you have cancer?

No matter how much sleep I want to get, I always get 5-5.5 hrs of sleep a night. I guess I'm pretty healthy! I do have rare days where I sleep a good 18 hours though!

The article was interesting, as it showed that those that sleep less then 8 hours had less of a tendancy to die. Not from old age but from other factors.
What I want to see though is research on those that sleep >12 hours. The fact that they are home safe in bed would seem to boost their changes for living!

I hear ya man. I think I may be one of th Highlander people. There's always something better to do than sleep. I put “feeding my fish” higher than getting sleep. And my fish do nothing but irritate me.
